Description
Traditional marker drawing/sketch of Darth Vader. At first I wanted to add some colours (e.g. red), but then I decided to use only black & white (gray). I finished this pretty quickly and didn't want to invest much time. It's been a while since I've used the Copic marker pad, but next time I'll probably use watercolour paper again... that's much better to blend colours (and somehow I always manage to dog-ear that thin marker paperBecause of the most recent "copyright infringement" (see journal) I had to make a new watermark and added it to a more detailed area. But I'm still experimenting...
Reference was a Star Wars promo (?) picture.
Copic Marker Pad DIN A4 70g/m²; Copic Ciao and Sketch marker (shades of warm gray, 0, 100), Copic Multiliner 0.05 & SP 0.03; time: ~5 hours

Thanks! I'm still not 100% happy with the watermark, because I'm pretty sure that I could still remove it with photoshop (I didnt want to put a watermark all over his face XD), but at least it's more secure than before.

,
even with the whole Empire LOL Empire - Star Wars X InkTober / 09-12 10 2015 okaaaay, not whole
I didn't know that You are into SW Universe as well
Great job, my dear. As always, as always No matter what and who You'd paint or draw, it will be great ^^

I agree! But faces are much more fun (at least on watercolour paper, because you can blend everything pretty good! )!
Your drawing is also great! The whole empire? Lol! You forgot the death star... oh wait... it's probably one of the points in the background. Am I right?
I really like the old trilogy and a bit of the prequels. The SW universe is just very interesting!^^ But I always said that I like fantasy action movies (especially if they don't take place on earth)!
Thank you very much!

Faces are always much more fun ^^ They are one of the greatest things to draw / paint :3
Thank You for the compliment Haha, whole Empire is a little too big to be painted XD but I tried to pick the best representation
There is Death Star, it is not a moon XD Sadly my favourite Vader's super-star destroyer Executor was a little to big to be drawn, but... casual star-destroyers are also cool ^^
Niiiiceee Who is Your fav character/ characters?
Do You like EU as well? or only movies?

You're welcome!
Lol! XD You could've also drawn his little spacecraft, by the way!
That's a good question... I was a Darth Vader fan when I watched the old trilogy. And when I watched the prequels in cinema I was an Anakin fan (... I was pretty young and when I rewatch it now I like him not that much). Well, old trilogy: Darth Vader, Han Solo; prequels: I don't know? Who is your favourite character?
What's EU...? I watched only the movies!

Basically I like him with his star destroyers Maybe on my artwork he hasn't got whole of his detroyers squadron, still everybody knows what is it all about
Tehehe, another Vader's fan, huh?
I quite know what You mean. I always loved and still love Vader. I also love Anakin. But with time You can see that Vader is really not that powerful as You thought as a child and basically he did crazy lots of life errors that... well... for adult person can be even silly. At the moment even if I still like a lot this character, I prefer his son's - Luke's - ways So at the moment I love whole Skywalker's family (cause ladies are awesome too!). But I like also all the main characters cause without them there would be no SW.
EU is Extended Universe. Like books, comics. I love the books. They are great. Some of them are really well written. I didn't liked prequel trilogy when it was on screens. But I like it now - because of the books. They show maaaaany things that were behind it all and wasn't show in the movie. In books Jedi council and Anakin don't seem to look sooooo silllyyyyy

Yes, that's true. The star destroyers look much better!
Yeah, I didn't like him so much in the prequels, because of this weird "crazy lots of life errors". But another problem for me was the acting. It was a bad decision to watch it in English a few months ago.
Ah ok. I already heard that there are many books with a lot of background stories out there.
Lol!

I always loves star destroyers. They have something in their look, simple design that make them look really majestatic on screen. But I wouldn't like to see them on our sky. It definetely wouldn't be a good sign XDDD
About prequel trilogy, If You haven't seen, this is really great point of view: www.youtube.com/watch?v=buXz4B… This vid is a little lot (abou 20 mins) but it is really great. I agree with this guy totally. I guess in every point. I guess this guy is like me the fan of Original Trilogy. I call it "old SW fan" cause it describes that... ech... I am actually quite old SW fan, not as old as my dad XDDD but I think there are generations of SW fans and I am from Original Trilogy generation, not from the generation which saw Special Edition first or Prequel Trilogy first, I think it give us some points of view, what is important in SW for us, what we expect from good SW movies. As I saw many old SW fans were very disapointed with prequel trilogy. BUT - there are also good things in prequels and this guy from the vid points them well in my opinion.
One of the things that he is saying that Hayden Christensen played Anakin the best as he could. And that he is basically a good actor. Just... scenario wasn't good and all the actors played as... wood. And there were so many bad dialogues. I couldn't agree more. Cause We got in prequel trilogy many really good actors like Samuel Jackson who... well... Mace Windu really sounds like "dull Jedi Master" :/ Which means... he played it well... playing it bad means to play it well O_o oh gosh XD So... this guy in the vid points a fact that Hayden plays really well when he... don't have to talk. And I think the same way too. He shows perfectly Anakin's emotions in episode 3. With his face, stares, playing with body. But still... dialogues are like "wait what? better say nothing, please"
Yes... books gives A LOT of background. To he honest everyone in prequel trilogy seemed silly to me. Watching it I felt like they were all blind puppets run to meet their destiny... Which means death, sarrow, sadness etc. I felt like in these stories in which You know what will be next and You want to scream! "Nooooo, not this wayyyy!" or "Run, You fools!" in Gandalf's words. Happily in books it is described so much better, deeper. There is more psychological, political and economical background.
No matter what looking at this story, if You are a person who "don't want to ruin your life" You just see that Jedi council, Jedi Masters (even "wise Yoda"), politicians, normal people, story characters (like Anakin) made sooooo many mistakes that this ruin was closer and closer with every step. The background make You think of them not as about silly people, You see their reasons, but still... they step by step ruined it all.
At the same time books gives You also a little mindblow. Cause when You are reading them You start to see behind this fantasy... a real life. Stories that really happened in the history. Even many times. In big history and in small histories of people's everyday lives.
You said that "It was a bad decision to watch it in English a few months ago." oh gosh, are You talking about "original language"? XD I know that in Germany You got many things in dubbing, in German. Is that dubbing so good that these dialogues weren't that stupid?

Quelchii In reply to UnicatStudio [2015-10-27 18:43:53 +0000 UTC]
A star destroyer on our sky... well... yep. No good sign at all.
Oh, I know Nostalgia Critic, but I haven't seen this one! Thanks for the link!^^ I agree with him as well! It was a bad decision to watch it in English, because everything sounds monotonous! The dialogues are also stupid in German though (but sometimes they change some sentences...), but they sound less monotonous (in Germany everything is dubbed, by the way)... You remember that stupid line with the sand on Naboo in Episode II?
I'm an old SW fan, as well. I watched the old trilogy first... omg... suddenly I feel so old.
I agree with the acting parts, when I really think about it. The script really destroyed everything (and the director). It's ok if they don't talk. I also heard that some of the actors completely disliked the fact that they were shooting in front of a green screen almost every time. So it was some kind of "boring".
That sound all pretty interesting. I wish I had more time to read the books.
"You wanna buy some death sticks?"

Haha, yea... Invasion and stuff. But on the other side it would like "wait, it seems that SW was truth. Yaaaaay! we are IN the galaxy far far away! Can I become a Jedi? Or sith? please please! XD"
BTW. I heard that You got one imperial airport in Germany, have You been there: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Snph22… ?
I guess the actors were told to sound monotous. Heh... It was bad decision of writters. I am happy to hear that german dubbing fixed it somehow. I basically love the most original versions of the movies (so I always felt somehow sorry for that You have everything with dubbing, especially when I heard many many years ago about german SW fans that were fighting for original version of the SW special edition in the cinemas) but I see now that dubbing can have pluses as well. But still I love watching movies in original version with subtitles (or without if it is English and I understand many things) just to hear original voices. Eeeeeh... even if they sound like... like... like... Jedi Masters? O_O oh gosh... Happily they created 5-6 episode Yoda before that and he is not monotous hihihihihi XD He got old and started to have a good sense of humour in his old days XDDD I totally prefer original Yoda XD
These books are really fast-to-read, You know? They got lots of good action and many of them are really well written and they are great to read in the free whiles. One bad thing... sometimes action is that good that You cannot stop reading them XDDD
Ooooh gosh! I love that death sticks scene!
BTW. in books it is muuuuch better described thing than in movies. Ya know... movies are for wide audience. But in books You can see that smugglers, criminalists, "spice", slavery, places like Mos Eisley cantina are quite huge problem in this "galaxy far far away". Even on Coruscant which in one novel serie looks totally like from cyberpunk movies. SW has many faces Even not much children-proof

Lol! That's just a normal German spaceport. Every spaceport here looks like that. Nothing special. I visited one like this several times (and also the death star in the background). XD
I admit that I prefer to watch the movies in original language (often without subtitles), too. But for this I always have to buy the blu ray...
I agree. Old Yoda was way funnier!
You really want to make me read these books... stop it! XD

Haha, I thought that! XD I just cannot understand one thing... if You see this deathstar from Germany... why we in Poland still see the 1st one... it must be something with its rotation I guess... Like dark side of the moon or something XD 👍: 0 ⏩: 1
www.youtube.com/watch?v=qvDw9L… - typical German car-accident
www.youtube.com/watch?v=faQO57… - have You seen these guys? They are everywhere now. You cannot just go to the shop without Your lightsaber. They want to test their lighsaber skills all the time. They say they are prepraring for the new Sith and the new Jedi from the Force Awakens and they want to be well prepared. Eeeh, guuuuys XD
Eeee... These are the books You are looking for tehehe
But honestly... they are better than death sticks. And they are legal

Tehehe, yes yes yes. But I see You got a strong mind. You know... it even makes these books really the one You are looking for I can help with a first pick (Became a librarian in Jedi Temple library XD) Who is Your favourite SW character? Are You on Jedi or on Sith side? what are Your favourite times in SW Universe? hmmmm hmmm?
(but beside Jedi library roleplay, I am really interested about Your SW views and interests ^^)
This Vid shouldn't be blocked... it is on vimeo. I love it. It is beautiful and very accurate. And hahaha - when I watched whole saga recently I saw it (after that I found this video): vimeo.com/137711830 And I love the music in this vid. Very accurate :3

This video is very interesting! I never noticed that before!

Thanks for the answers
My fav characters... For me it was always Darth Vader. I like him since I was a child XD But my ver fav version of him is Vader from Shadows of the Empire and as Anakin - him from times between episodes 2 and 3, so from the books and Clone Wars serie. It is EXACTLY how I always imagined Anakin (before prequels). Sadly... I was never able to see THIS Anakin on big screen :/ Which is sad for me cause I am sure that Hayden would play it wonderfully. I also like Luke Skywalker, but again hahaha - I love the more books version of him, especially a little older than in original trilogy from trilogy of Thrawn. And I like also Padme and Leia. And some characters described only in books like Admiral Thrawn, Darth Bane, Darth Zannah, Mara Jade, Ahsoka Tano (she is also in TV show). They are all awesome. But to be honest I like somehow all the characters (ok... maybe a little less to Jar Jar...) - I feel that they are all somehow needed and give something good to the movie. My fav episodes would be Revenge of the Sith and Empire Strickes back, but my fav times... again... they are not in... movies. Cause I love totally ancient Jedi and Sith era plus Old Republic Era, Birth of New Republic Era (about 5 years after original trilogy), or times between episodes like Shadows of the Empire or after Revenge of the Sith or between episode 2 and 3 (Clone Wars). So yea... I love many many many things that I will never see on screen XD Or... maybe... one day hahaha XD But I guess not cause lots of them are now Legends (thanks to Disney XD). I am a little sad about it... Cause... I feel that it is sad if people will never be able to know some great stories and characters. Or that... not many people were able to see... Anakin also as a great Jedi who is wise and good, has a padawan and is a good Master for somebody. Not only good fighter... Oh well... Happily movies themselves are great as well ^^ Just extended universe make it greater XD Oh... side.... I feel myself as a mix of both sides really. I used to think of myself as a sith but... it is a past now. I got too much Light Side in me XD
