Description
This is my fourth and last painting inspired by Prometheus movie, requested by avp galaxy. The painting was done before the trailer got released and this was my vision of the ship. You can now see how close (or far) my guess was to the actual ship design from the film. The scene shows some ancient orbital dockyards near a Space Jockey planet, this is the first encounter of the human explorers with alien technology.
Let me know any comments or critics.
All done in photoshop + wacom in couple of evenings.

You've definitely captured the feel of the Alien series of ships; love the look of it! Can't wait for Prometheus to come out, though highly unlikely I'll see it at the theater. It's absolutely not the kind of movie I could take my wife to, so I'll just Netflix it down the line.

I don't understand why this picture looks so dirty.
Firstly: The first thing I see when I look at the ship is a giant cock and balls. Secondly, the third crag from the right looks oddly phallic. And is it just me or does the rock juuust behind and below the ship look like a big stony erection?
*chuckles*
I am horrible, and probably should be shot. I also should not be awake at six in the morning, much less perusing random artz.
All of my random and wildly inappropriate observations aside, as difficult as it is not to point out that third crag which appears suspiciously phallic, this is a very beautiful piece of work. ^^. I love the atmosphere and the detail, as well as the peculiar landscape - or is it the ruins of some astral machine? It looks vaguely mechanical, so I cannot be sure. Maybe it's more obvious if your eyes aren't blurry, but that's just another indicator of having not gotten nearly enough SLEEP. xD.
So what's that symbol stand for, the one on the side of the ship? c:

I didn't do it intentionally. but its common on Giger's painting that you see falic symbols.

The picture, I mean the ship itself looks a lot like frigates from Halo: [link] So I guessed he'd would have got some inspiration from them. xD

WOW.
Your version of the ship bears an alternate creativity in structure and design yet maintains in bold form & rectanglar strength the key elements of Futurist gear seen in the Alien series franchise. The many details on the ship (portholes, lights, even the Weyland-Yutani logo) is amazing in its concrete intricacy and the grey-dominated colour theory helps provide the needed gravitas for its majesty. The fact that this is the first encounter only adds the sense of ominous mystery as well.
A very powerful conclusion to the anticipated film (& Ridley's Original Universe) tribute, bringing all familiar flavours together while leaving room for interpretation. Stellar work here!

the only crit i have is the blacks on the fringe are deeper than on the ship and its kind of distracting.

About the ship shape, I'd rather say it reminds Dedalus from Stargate, yet it's still damn awesome
