This is the blueprint I designed for a duplex that'll be constructed in the recent future, once the current house is torn down. Didn't really know where to put it, since there's not an 'architecture' category.Related content

There is one big problem. You should never place the master bedrooms next to each other like that. Even with proper insulation there is going to be considerable noise from one side to the other.
Bedrooms should be adjacent to rooms not used at night/morning. This keeps down tenant complaints of noise. Also the kitchen is WAY too large for the size of the entire place. Another BIG flaw is that the garage sits next to both bedrooms. Again this causes a lot of noise pollution into both apartments.
The master bedroom would be much better suited in the location where the kitchen is now, although that would require an entire redesign of the layout.

The only problems I see with this are the fact that the garage seems to be the focal point in the home, but being a single floor duplex, I suppose that would be hard not to do... also the main appliances in the kitchen (sink, fridge, stove) are much too spread out for practical purposes....

Very nice design. I didn't find any design flaws Original, for sure. I once did a cabin like this, but not a duplex. Your kitchen's work triangle looks kinda big, but still good.
