Description
So I was originally gonna draw up some new art of the main cast of my next gen, but Mothball grabbed me by the hands and demanded to be drawn so here we are.

To be honest it was a good thing cause I needed to figure out how angles and such would work with a slightly more realistic horse face. With how sectioned Mothball's face is it really helped me get those angles down better. So consider this Mothball's official introduction!

Mothball, formerly known as Hummingbird Moth, was always one of my favorites when it came to the old next gen. Originally he was this little tsundere bug boy who was super mean to all his friends but they liked him anyways. That was basically it for the uh, prolonged out-of-nowhere hiatus, and I am revamping his entire personality now! I want him to be more of that shy kid with a lot of siblings who, while he gets attention and knows his family loves him, still feels a bit looks over in favor of his older or louder or more talented siblings. He's definitely got middle child syndrome, but luckily he's got good friends and understanding parents (or parent, Pharynx is trying his best and that's what counts) so thankfully he never gets to the point that he feels unloved or unwanted.

- Mothball and Gilded Shield (formerly Aegis Shield, he was basically Shield Shield and I noticed that far too late) are still the best of friends. Mothball regularly reminds him of that. Loudly. Honestly Mothball just feels the need to remind and be reminded that he still has friends sometimes. Gilded will gladly remind him, even if he isn't entirely sure why Moth is so insecure about it. The two can't hang out as often as they'd like, but they send letters in between hangouts, and their mothers think it's the cutest thing ever.

- Baby Mothball! A soft, squishy and fluffy little worm baby with only slightly piercing tiny legs. The clutch as babies were,,,adorable, Fluttershy couldn't not be holding at least one of them at all times and if she wasn't, Amity was. As grubs the clutch mostly spent all their time sleeping, eating and being cuddled. As new era changelings they could afford to be a little less hardy and fast growing, with the abundance of nutrients and safe places to hide and grow let them spend more time conserving energy for a longer metamorphosis. So Mothball and his siblings were babies for a longer time than your average old era changelings, and unconsciously morphed their appearances to better match Fluttershy and Amity. Thankfully with Pharynx there as well they still looked very similar to changelings instead of odder pony like versions of them.

- Speaking of his parents and older sister, Mothball's relationship with the older members of his family are very important to him! Due to being held a lot as a baby by his mother and sister, he has a closer relationship to them than he does Pharynx. Not that he and Pharynx don't get along, they just have a more distant relationship compared to Blue or Amity who have a much closer relationship to their father. Mothball admires Pharynx as an elder changeling and his dad, but feels like they could be closer if they both put more effort into their relationship.

- Meanwhile with Fluttershy, he's a total mama's boy, Fluttershy couldn't tell him the moon was made of cheese and he'd believe her. They're very close and very similar as well, both struggle with anxiety and their self imagine, but as someone who has dealt with it much longer than her son Fluttershy always has advice and an understanding place to hide away when things become too much for him. Along with Amity, he also helps his mother with the animals around the house and thus has an appreciation for animals and nature like his mom does.

- Mothball thinks his older sister is the coolest person he's ever met. No joke, he looks at Amity like she's the sun and it only bothers the bat pony a little bit. Mainly because for a long while when he was younger he copied everything she did, and she had to sit him down and tell him she'd rather have him grow into his own person than a mini Amity. Nowadays he doesn't purposely do this but you can tell that it's still subconsciously a thing that he does. You can pinpoint the parts of his speech that sound like Gilded Shield or Fluttershy, or the way he holds him that resembles Pharynx or his laugh sounding a little too similar to Amity's. It's more noticeable on him than Rosie or Blue.
