Basically I decided to make a tutorial for who got me photoshop CS2! Thank you SO MUCH. But you don't need that program to use this tutorial. Really, it can be used in any program from photoshop 5-CS2. You can easily adapt it to other programs too if you need it. Anyway, I hope you find this useful. I didn't want to give away the final picture completely, which will be posted soon

Wow, that's a great tutorial! I hope I'll get better at digital stuff now...I've always been afraid of cg, but this tutorial really explaines things wonderfully. Arigatou! ^__^

Great tutorial! I thought it was Squall from FF8 though, with the hair and the scar on his nose... I shall have to make a feeble attempt at trying this out at some stage. I still can't work PSP.

I think the white parts of the image are supposed to be transparent so you only have the red sketch, this would work because you would lock the transparent bits and only colour in the sketch, but I don't know how to make it transparent either.

uh ... just a quick question. Do you think it's easier to sketch starting on the computer or draw a picture in your sketch book and then scan it?

I know that when I scan my pics I get shadows around the edges and can't just copy the sketch that is already there without the shadows being copies as well.

Nice tutorial by the way, the picture is beautiful reminds me of a character from Naruto.
