Description
The color in this photo is unfortunate, because it seems to just outline the "ugly" qualities in the photo - drippy eyes, dirty mouths, flies looking for a meal - but I think the image of the two pigs nuzzled up next to each other is very touching. Pigs are amazingly intelligent, gentle, social animals. We really couldn't have chosen a worse one to designate as "food." Luckily, these two aren't going to be food any time soon; they live at Farm Sanctuary, and are more likely to spend their days rooting for tubers, wallowing in the pond, or sleeping in the barn amongst friends.
