Halibut Point State Park is probably my favorite location on any coast in the US, because it has one very unique feature. Allthough the ocean surrounds the point on both sides, there is a huge FRESHwater quarry literally about 100ft from the ocean. As a result, you get this fantastic mix of New England forest and shoreline wildlife, from frogs and freshwater eels to cormorants and crabs. I love this part of the quarry in particular because there is a great little spot of flat rocks that you can wade out on, and look - cat tails, which means an abundance of frogs and little baby fishes.
