Do you have any idea how hard it is to get this close to wild turtles without them all swimming away? Ungh. Just the approach took about 15 minutes because I had to more so slowly to avoid spooking them. There were actually about a dozen turtles in the area - you can see one off in the water - but all except for these two vacated by the time I got close enough to even see them.
At any rate, these two turtles - a painted and a slider, I believe - were shot at a buddhist monastary near my house. There are TONS of turtles there, mostly painteds and sliders, but some that are more exotic, and a few that were probably abandoned exotic pets because they are friendly and non-native.
