Ah, this was a fun capture - I wish the focus were a bit better! This little sprout was coming up from the soil, but was completely encased in ice. The ice probably came after the fact; there was a little waterfall near this plant and all of the surrounding rock and foliate had a thin sheet of ice from the freezing temps the night before. But as you can see, the ice was melting in the spring day-time temps. Sortof a fun image of the transition between the seasons - hence the name.
