Description
I hate the fact that I can only photograph trees. Heres another exampleβI'm tired of this back-slapping "Isn't humanity neat?" bullshit. We're a virus with shoes, okay? That's all we are.β -Bill Hicks

heh, and this world isn't what humans supposedly are? Nature has its incredible moments, but it has hardly the same value of relationship as with humans. Throwing the words "disgusting" and "uninteresting" to the wind, the aspect of simple association gives human portraiture (candid or otherwise) a much more tangible basis for our own emotions. We can take part in another's life much more than we can associate with a striking sunset or serene, snow-covered plains. Not that those natural scenes aren't beneficial, but we certainly can't discount the role the human image plays in helping us understand or better ourself.
But hey, very nice dynamic shot right here. Has a real sense of natural "explosion" to it, as if we're witnessing a monumental burst of growth! Even the man-made structures within the shot seem to gravitate towards the central emblem of the tree.

what relationship? better ourselves? One should think if that was possible, we'd be above the virus level by now, after millions of years of 'evolution'.

Relationship in the sense of essential association or affinity with each other -- kinship, support, competition, friendship, sexuality ... It is a basis where humanity shares this within itself yet not with nature. The appreciation of natural beauty (read: "beautiful", not "pretty") and natural process can be cathartic. The appreciation of human beauty (again, not in the "pretty" sense) and human process is critical to human life. I think not of "ego-building" appreciation, applauding and admiring ourselves and our works, but rather the appreciation which builds the aforementioned relationship; which, by its nature, gives insight, expands our view of the world, provides some meaning to life, and grants a hardy constitution in facing hardship. In these ways it betters us. Perhaps even enough to help us better appreciate the natural world in turn. It's fair to say I don't hold humans in the same view as a virus or disease (which makes my basis of human improvement possible from the start), noteably when I fail to see how a thing in such a destructive, impartial context could compose the art such as is crafted throughout history or even on this site.

Its a beautiful thought, although sexuality is just programmed behavior, very much like the HIV virus is programmed to invade T-cells, to produce more HIV-virus. I must admit our ability to create art seems a reduntant activity amongst vira. Perhaps its just something we do, to pass time, while gathering strenth for out next onslaught.

i dunno, this one doesn't really do anything for me. i can see part of another tree in the top section and that makes it look kinda sloppy. the tree itself is highly contrasted so it looks kinda funky, the angle is okay, but i think its just too bright in the middle section. oh well, maybe its just me.

it might be too bright. But this is how it looked to me. The fog intensified the light enormously, making it hard to keep my eyes open.

Extremely nice. But there are a few elements too much in the picture, I think. And the lines could perhaps have been planned a bit better. But it's very nice.

yeah, trees rule, i like'em too
but you can use other items for expresivity as well say.. animal portraits or just.. i dunno daily scenes from life in general, the human-less one
your nature scenes are nice, i'm curious what can you surprise "zooming in" the landscapes for a local shoot or a macro, or others

people are interesting in their own ways, but anyway they are so closed inside that it is impossible to reach their personalities.. creating pictures of surfaces is not an answer neither.
trees are more friendly in most cases.

there are flowers, animals, walls, empty skies. overexposed lightbulb shots(100% white ^^')
don't limit youtself to trees alone!!!

XD Yep, humans are disturbing. I've just spent a LONG time trying to rid my computer of a virus that took out my start bar, internet, and System Restore. Why anybody would take twisted pleasure in giving people pain is beyond me.
Great shot.
