Description Small tip for drawing black creatures, mostly furred/feathered, since I see it a lot in beginner artists that they struggle with such a contrasting colour.

Also written out bc I knoooow how awful I write at times.

- use a lighter shade than jetblack. There's a variety of black, like "charcoal" or "raven" and usually the lighter shades get recognized as black as well
- this allows for shading, you treat that the same way as any other colour
- add reflective light! Black usually reflects blue light in shadows and white in sunlight, though it depends on the lightsourcee/surroundings. Animals are also very glossy at times, so there's plenty to "light up"
- use blue on a layer mode like "negative multiply" on a lower opacity, and use the colour of the sky if you drew one. It's quick, easy and tbh the results are nice
