rcsi1 — An Abstract Love Story

Description The original file is huge. This resized file is still huge.

For those who wanted to know more about "the couple". This is how they met, at least as the taller one remembers it. I'll do another one from the shorter one's perspective.

I realize the drawings are not particularly good and the writing is rushed. I just wanted to get this done and was up until four in the morning finishing it. I might make a nicer version later. Also, if the images are cut off, it's because I had to resize this a lot. The original was far too big to post.

I've never done something like this before. I was inspired by the incredible *mythchan 's comic-story-scroll things. What do you guys think?

EDIT: THANKS FOR 200 FAVES! I REALLY APPRECIATE IT!!

Thanks. I don't know if I believe it either. Frankly, I just draw these guys to convince myself that there's a chance that it's possible.

If I had money to give you to do a commission
it would be on this or one of your nature themes

and if it was this one

than it would be neat to see it set up on 13 small separate canvases incorporating your water coloring/penning

hmmm

Exquisite narrative art

It is very good to see the beginning of this relationship, especially since it also gives character insight to the taller one (as this is her perspective). I am beginning to wonder if all of the pieces of their story have a perspective assigned to one or the other. I believe that the most succinct continuing story elements can be found in this piece, "Fragile", and the "Coma - Still Asleep" pair, seen in the dual dialogue.

There almost seem to be four continuing elements of dialogue here, an internal and an external for both characters. Those lines that are in boxes are external communication, while the unboxed texts are internal thoughts. This allows for many different readings of the same story.

I didn't realize it when viewing your most recent two pieces of the story, but the most beautiful motif you use is the personification of the chaos element. Throughout your pieces (this one included) it can be seen that this element is not limited to only composing the taller one, but is found in the shorter one as well. The balance of the presence of chaos between them gives a very good indication of the flow and progress of their relationship. In this piece the beginning is of the taller one in complete chaos with a troubled identity, and the shorter one in almost perfectly order (but not quite, as seen in the glove and first blue text box). As it progresses the shorter one becomes increasingly more chaotic until the taller one starts to become more formed at which point they both approach the neutral state. Even the text is assigned an emotion through the chaos element and it's placement, this allows the words to have more emotion associated with them than simple connotation, almost as if they are being spoken aloud.

The story-scroll format is used very well here, and the style of narrative reminds me of the "Green Evening Stories " by David Troupe (author of "Buttercup Festival"). There are a few places where the background tone (the outline of the scan and paper tone can be seen) could be fixed, but it hardly distracts from the storyline.

Wonderfully created and an excellent insight on the other elements of this story.

Awesome idea! I like how you put it in a scroll form. The white space gives a feel of freedom to this too, it`s not crammed into panels or something

It's incredibly inspiring and awesome, especially since the red one reminds me of someone I'm very fond of. Of course, she was different when I first met her and was lacking the strength to be close to other people. You've got it down! It's crazy. Which is the main reason I LOVE your artwork.
