"Voidless Staring" is a piece is inspired by Friedrich Nietzsche's quote about the abyss. “Beware that, when fighting monsters, you yourself do not become a monster... for when you gaze long into the abyss. The abyss gazes also into you.”
Staring into the prospect of nothingness. It fills some with dread, others with wonder and yet a few more with confusion. Some people become lost in it because they can only solely focus on one idea. Losing perspective totally and not seeing what's around the void or that within that abyss is not emptiness but all. It's both and that's a hard concept for some to wrap their minds around - myself included sometimes because I tend to only focus on one thing at a time. Acceptance that the nothingness is nothing and appreciation for the beauty that is within as well as without. And once you unfocus that stare into something more abstract, you see your own eyes - the eye of the Gods staring back at you.

Yes, there is darkness. No, you should not fear it. Embrace it and have mastery over it but do not neglect the light. Be both. Don't be limited. Don't be scattered. Be as you truly are and be proud of the actions that paint who you are onto the canvas of the world. For all who struggle with mental illness, depression or just those of us who are completely overwhelmed, take heart.
