-So wishes she had been able to disect poetry like that at college last year...- It would have made it so much more fun. You certainly have a talent and I'm not going to go on and on, everyone's said pretty much all that can be said. One thing I will say is... I may not be able to spout lots of fancy words and disect the poem like others... But I know what I like and I like it. Wonderful piece of work.

thank you very much . . . i tend to not always analyze things the same way my teachers do . . . but as long as i can support my beliefs, there's no harm in that, right?

You're more than welcome. As I was told in English, there are no rights and wrongs. And like you said yourself, as long as you can support what your saying, thats all that counts. -Notes she's had a bad day so probally makes no sense what-so-ever.- XD

It's so nice to see someone so new get so much recognition. As a newbie myself I just like to hope that maybe the lack of recognition for us is just due to the lack of knowledge and not to a lack of talent. Your sucess is hope that its not that were unskilled but just unoticed.

By the way, it is so nice to see a poem that does not average or written about love gone bad!

oh yeah, i would definitely agree with that, i was just really fortunate to have someone take notice of me - by real chance it seems

(and thanks i find that a lot of my poetry tends feel a bit angsty for the most part, too )

krickets In reply to ??? [2004-10-06 15:12:34 +0000 UTC]

wow i love it. as a poet it must have been a stretch to admit that words are not always enough... sometimes all you can say is -!-

my favorite lines:

oh!
-but this is
joy!
exuberance!
! -

...............and

a state of ecstasy confined to a mere dash and dot

it's not often that something in this virtual world makes me actually smile but this did... thanks for sharing.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Real-rabbit In reply to krickets [2004-10-13 06:53:25 +0000 UTC]

well i can't speak for anyone else besides myself . . . but one of the reasons that i am drawn to poetry is because linear words aren't always enough and i find that through poetry i have an easier time elucidating myself. my boyfriend will ask me questions and i frequently struggle to answer them because i don't feel words will always do what i want to say enough justice . . . *shrug* i love words, goodness, all languages - they're beautiful, i love even just the cncept of "communication," but there it is . . . communication extends beyond words and into the deeper intangibles of life . . .

but yes i agree, thanks

(sorry i have the tendancy to ramble sometimes . . . haha)

daeira [2004-10-06 13:36:19 +0000 UTC]

Hah! Excellent!

I especially loved the beginning of this, when you describe the thud, gasp, Italian gesture that is in a ! .. just marvellous. And this is extremely experimental and funny. Realy delightful that you got so much out of an exclamationpoint, and managed to convey your own feelings to so many others - making us see your point of view. Nice!

Good ending too by the way. May strike one as melancholic due to the highly contrastive nature to the rest of the poem, but it is just a little quiter, a little more contemplating. Still happy, still beautiful. Good job.

thanks i fiddled with the end a lot . . . there were times when it the end was really a downer . . . but i didn't want this poem to end up like that, but (as opposed to other ways i tried it) i like the different levels of feelings, though--i thought that by some means it just emphasizes the high . . . if that makes any sense . . . haha
