Description

“Cockcrow_Quadruped”: I have now acquired what you so desire, Mr. O’Jeneus. If you perform your mission admirably, I will be more than elated to bequeath it to you…

The place is Athens, Greece, at the home of Diana and Steve Trevor and their twin 2-year-old children Michael and Louise. In an unfortunate series of events, Diana’s mother Pauline is in the hospital awaiting heart surgery, and Diana wants to be there for her. Normally, Steve, a former US military colonel, is a stay-at-home father to his two kids, but he’s currently in talks with the EU’s defense agency ARGUS, and they need him tonight for an important meeting. So, Michael and Louise need a babysitter… but who can the Trevors trust? Diana, also known as the superhero Wonder Woman, called up her contacts in the superhero community and got her good friend and former student (in a manner of speaking) Donna Sandsmark, aka Wonder Girl, to fly over in the T-Ship, the new transport ship made by her hero team, The Titans, and help take care of the children. Donna agreed and the couple were off to take care of their personal businesses. The night went smoothly at first… until Donna noticed something. See, Diana had locked one of the bottom cabinets in the kitchen, where the junk food little kids would like is kept, with a combination lock. Donna took her eyes off of Michael and Louise for a second and they waddled off. She then heard a metallic crunch and followed it to the kitchen. The two 2-year-olds hand smashed the lock, as though with bare hands, and were eating the cookies locked within. The night got worse from there, as the twins, having inherited their mother’s strength, speed, and precision, caused havoc. In the end, Donna needed a second person to contain the madness. She called Connor Kent, aka her teammate in the Titans known as Steel, and he agreed to fly over and help. This was not as easily handled with two sets of eyes and hands as they thought it would be with the rambunctious, metahuman toddlers. Once they were able to get Michael and Louise under control, they decided to take them out for a walk in the night air to get them sleepy. As the two and their stroller made their way through the night-cloaked city, there was an explosion and a disturbance. A bank had been broken into and the robber, a technologically-advanced young genius calling himself Gizmo, was making off with his pilfered goods. Connor told Donna to take the kids and run while he changes into Steel and fight Gizmo. Donna argued and said that she should fight him as Wonder Girl, as he might have a means to counter his tech and magnetism power. Gizmo was getting away, so Steel had to take charge. Steel confronted Gizmo, but the villain was prepared and blasted him with an energy signature that temporarily disabled his magnetic powers. He then saw the stroller and wrapped it up in metal tendrils after smacking Donna away with one of his robotic spider-legs. He took the toddlers hostage and escaped in a puff of electrified smoke. Donna changed into Wonder Girl, proclaiming that Diana was going to kill her for what happened to her children, and both young heroes set out to find them and Gizmo. Meanwhile, with Gizmo, he was also having trouble keeping an eye on the toddlers while he was in contact with “Cockcrow_Quadruped”, the anonymous criminal who emailed him with the job to steal from certain banks and facilities. Gizmo kept his usual potty mouth in check in front of the kids while having to deal with both the super-powered toddlers and his contact. Eventually, Wonder Girl and Steel found and confronted Gizmo in the abandoned steel mill he was held up in. Gizmo proved to be a formidable foe, but the toddlers instinctively grabbed onto his robot spider-legs and broke them with their strength, causing him to fall flat on his face. With Gizmo defeated, the heroes demanded he surrender the money he stole. Gizmo claimed that he wasn’t stealing money, but information. The person who hired him was The Riddler, an American criminal who is also known as “Cockcrow_Quadruped”. In exchange, Gizmo wanted information from the Riddler regarding his older brother, who was a scientist for The Prometheus Corporation who died under mysterious circumstances. Steel and Wonder Girl turned Gizmo over to Interpol, but agreed to help him look into Prometheus and his brother’s death. In the end, Donna and Connor returned Michael and Louise to their home and peacefully set them down to bed. Donna gave Connor a kiss on the cheek and told him he did great… After Connor flew off, Diana soon returned, with good news that her mother will make a full recovery

Notes:

* Gizmo is mostly based on the Teen Titans animated series.

** Gizmo’s real name is Sean O’Jeneus, and his brother Mikron was a scientist for Prometheus before his unusual death.

* The Riddler’s screen-name “Cockcrow_Quadruped” is a fancy reinterpretation of the first-third of “The Riddle of the Sphinx”.

** We encountered The Riddler before, back when he emailed The Penguin about an attempt on his life…

Great job making Riddler's classic bowler hat design look a lot more menacing.
