I wanted to work on the feet of my crow characters, because they tended to get messy if I drew them as the spiky claws that I've been doing. Looking at Preston Blair's book on animation, he draws birds with round toes, and only two forward-pointing toes. He also has some specific suggestions for how to build the characters up from basic shapes, so I followed those. I like the result!
