While Amery's competitive life was never truly focused on anything but showjumping, he did have quite a lot of 'endurance experience'. That being the bi-yearly O'Leary family holiday when they'd go horse trekking. While his favourite was the time they went riding on the okavango delta for a week, the times they ventured into the snowy mountains of the alps did stick into his memory. Mainly because it was his first long ride when he first got Endgame. She seemed to truly belong in the snow and it was a great first bonding experience for them. His only official competition was a week in France when he was 17, but that was a piece of cake.

In recent years, he has sometimes skipped out on the holidays because he 'had better things to train for' ,but his sister, Maeve, became a semi serious endurance competitor. She never competed to win and would dip out if the weather got too miserable, but it was still fair to say she had some knowledge to pass on.

When Amery first mentioned wanting to participate in TWD, Maeve forced him to go on a 4 day trek with her to prove he was being serious. She of course did not want to participate, that was wayy too long without a spa day and a shower. Plus she wasnt really comfortable missing a whole month of her work.

As usual, her brother's pale nag got on her nerves the whole time. There is no feeling quite like being glared at by a different species. She took offence every time Maeve and Sailor overtook her, even if it was her own fault. THe slight on her honour would need to be solved with a fight to the death, at least it looked like that was what she was thinking. Luckily, Amery always calmed her down.

It was her job as a sister to doubt her brother had the ability to survive a whole month in the snow, or any amount of time looking after himself. Hopefully he'd be able to latch on to a group of fellow competitors and one of them had a saviour complex and would make sure he didnt wither away and die. That or his chosen horses would be capable enough, she had no doubt the moody OTX would never let anything happen, but what about these other two horses?

She may take time to go see him at every checkpoint is she could, or something. Search and rescue helicopter wasnt off the table as well......
