Description
After much struggle and planning, here are the first fruits of the reformulation I did of Caeill's story XDI already knew Caeill was about 4-5 times taller than the average human, but I didn't know how that difference would look, especially when I introduced the differences between both kinds (Caeill's stockier and of stronger built). Also it took me some time to settle on how tall he'd be at different ages and where that would fit in the storyline
His age was another tricky issue. He doesn't know how old he is because he lost his family when he was very young, so I wasn't sure of his true age or even of his aging rate. After a lot of pondering on the story and how long each section of his life within the academy should take, I decided that he's over his 30s. Still this isn't completely set on stone yet Xp
BEWARE, SUPER LONG DESCRIPTION BELOW!!! READ AT YOUR OWN RISK
Caeill is a giant, or Yoenhilm as they call themselves (or something like that. It's hard to get their pronunciation right
According to legend the first giants were sons of the mountains and daughters of the earth and those ancient ones were truly colossal in size. They were the ones responsible for the mountains and valleys that populate the landscape and for the forest and rivers that cover them as serve as home to their descendants. But over time the bloodline branched and diversified while the ancient ones fell asleep and their bones returned to the land
That's the explanation the Yoenhilm have for why their kind lives mostly in mountain and forest areas and why they tend to gain the features of the land that nurtured them, while their bodies slowly grow and age, becoming more and more a part of the landscape as they too fall asleep and return their bones to the earth. Also explains why their kind can range so much in terms of appearance and size, since each family branch developed to fit that environment best
It's unsure how long a Yoenhilm can live before reaching a natural death, since most of them are killed before reaching that age, but according to some stories they can reach 150-200 years before their bodies start to settle down. From that point on is hard to tell if they're just slumbering the centuries away or they're actually dead. There are stories on how some woke up, while others are responsible for earthquakes and landslides when they shift in their sleep
Though they have different clans based on common bloodline, most Yoenhilm live in small family groups scattered across the land. Occasionally they travel and visit their relatives, especially the young ones when they're in age to marry, but most of the time they stay to tend to their patch of land and care for their livestock. As a general rule the giants are usually quiet folk that won't bother others unless bothered first. The exception are those rogue individuals who either were kicked out of their family groups because of their behavior, or have a particular hatred for the other kinds and refuse to be oppressed by them or taken advantage of
Caeill is part of one of the northern forest family branches, known for their bark colored skin and mossy green hair. Compared to other Yoenhilm they're pretty human looking, but they're still broader and have slightly shorter legs compared to them (besides the sharp difference in height and strength)
In terms of aging, compared to humans, it takes them about 2-3 times as much to reach maturity, usually at 30-40 years of age. From that point forward they still grow, but at a much slower pace. Also it's said that the older they are the more they take the appearance of the plant they share the closest connection with, developing bark like skin and branches and foliage growing from their bodies

Well I've spent nearly a year since I last drew Caeill. If I didn't provide something at least this deep then I'm sure he'd get mad at me Xp

Well it wouldn't be the type of mad that would make him want to punch me, but the one that would make him not to speak a word at me for weeks T T

Live is too short and precious to hold grudges. I know Caeill's kind can live long but I stand by that motto. u____u

Well... no one's perfect. ^__^;; Though it's unhealthy to hold a grudge, it's perfectly healthy for a story character's personality to hold them. X3 Flat and flawless characters are boring as heck!

I absolutely agree on that. Though if I think about it that and the fact Caeill tends to retaliate when insulted are his major flaws. Besides those I can't really think of anything else

Those two should do for now until you can come up with a few others. ^___- After all, the ones you have now are pretty heavy ones seeing how they could really spell disaster for Caeill if he ever let his temper go out of control. O__o;;
