Description
so i was going through my folders picking out the collection for the book coming up and i found these process images! So I put them together, for all those who ask how I paint. D8 The pieces shown here are rivisions and +HCL, two of the more popular ones in my gallery.A tip for what I do: Don't be afraid to start something new before you finish something else. 8D;;; I do it all the time and it's a bad habit. *laughs*
Anyways, Enjoy this! I hope it helps some people!

none. I do it by hand, in traditional media.

What do you use to draw over your pencil lines. I meant how do you draw those lines.

maxxon nibs and waterproof ink. these mostly were done with copic multiliners.

Your stuff is gruesomly surreal (one of the reasons I love it) but seeing the inprogress shots, I see a lot of other things in the pictures I've never seen before. Also, I really just love your stringy smoke ink bubbles.

I really needed this, a lot of my sketches looks like the one at the top of this, so maybe I can do them look a lot better after all.

wow it's amazing how much work you put into this, it's good to see each stage.
do you white out any areas of your picture on the computer, or is every bit of pencil just rubbed out after the picture is inked?

retromortis In reply to Frenemie [2008-02-13 05:52:24 +0000 UTC]
the pencil is erased after the inking.

o i c thanks for that, i have to be more careful when i ink if i dont want to smudge it everywhere i guess

It was surprising for me to see that different parts of your works are constantly in different stages. I'm constantly redrawing pictures and moving things aren't, so I don't dare begin inking until the pencil sketch is done.

I wish I had patience to finish something that great as you do. Any idea what kind of inking pens you use?

Thanks! I really appreciate your answer. Er... have you... do you know where I can get them? Like, at Micheal's or a specific art suppy store?

retromortis In reply to sewerMonstar [2008-02-13 18:13:06 +0000 UTC]
i usually get them from art stores in my area (i go to an art school 8D; ) so you might want to try online if you don't have anything but michael's because i don't think michael's has them.

I have no patience for inking first, coloring later, at least for digital works. So I end up smushing everything on one layer
Then the shading isn't consistent, but I don't think I need it too much...

These are beautiful, and it really is fascinating to see how they come together from the pencil sketches. And do my eyes decieve me, or are the nurses in +HCL carrying canopic jars?
Oh, and I'm totally envious of your Chinese writing! Yours is lovely. Mine looks so... childish.

I find procedural demonstrations more fascinating than final results, although they don't have that special initial element of surprise that final results have.
