What if...Nintendo listened to fans and made a revision to the Nintendo 3DS that implemented one more circle pad, larger screens and a mini HDMI port (cuz why not). I quote Nintendo:
"The two circle pads allows 2 player split screen gaming and the mini HDMI port makes Virtual Console possible. Just hook up the 3DS+ to an external monitor and connect a Wii U pro controller and you are ready to go! The 3DS+ delivers an experince just as fenomenal as the Wii U!"
Sadly, the handheld sufferd bad battery life, few exclusive games, high pricing. IGN was where skeptical about the so called revision and Metacritic's rating kinda speeks for itself. The Nintendo 3DS+ was discontinued on March 3, 2017. Due to the realese of Nintendo's new hybrid console, the Nintendo Switch.
