Sans is 13 and Papyrus is 10 in this.
In HaloTale, Sans and Papyrus went to a school where a lot of the kids had parents that were either in the Insurrection or at the very least, supported the Insurrection's cause. Sans, although Gaster and Ariel tried not to say too much about it when the boys were younger, figured it out after a short while and did his own research on it. He didn't care much about it really, unless the kids in his grade bugged the crap out of him about it.
Although both brothers wore UNSC and ONI shirts quite often, they didn't really say too much about their parents being in the military at school. Sans and Pap both kept in mind who said their parents were involved with the Insurrection and Pap would tell Sans and in turn Sans would normally ended up telling Gaster... if the need came up...
In this a kid who was actually several years older than Sans, and actively involved with Insurrection, decided to pick a fight with Papyrus and lucky for him, big brother Sans was close enough to hear what was going on and came to the rescue. Needless to say, the kid didn't listen and Sans did end up with a scar from the fight... and the kid... well, they did have a bad time. After Sans and Papyrus went home with a very agitated Dadster, Sans did end up telling the names of all the kids that said their parents were involved with the Insurrection...
