"I just want a few days away. It's not like you need me to watch while you torture UnLight, do you?"

Mukot was rubbing his temples, his elbows propped up side by side on the desk he sat at. He grumbled. He wasn't in the mood for UnDark and his questions tonight.

He slammed the desk with his fist. "And pray, do tell, what is THAT important that you have to LEAVE, AGAIN!?" he snarled, glaring.

UnDark stared at him, unfazed. With his arms crossed he sighed and said, "I just want to go. I shouldn't have to keep asking your permission. I know you're on edge but, I should be allowed to do what I want."

"Allowed? ALLOWED!?!" Mukot screamed, standing up suddenly, pushing the desk forward so hard it overturned. "I ALLOWED you and UnLight to do whatever you wanted and LOOK what happened! I have a mind to never let you out of my sight AGAIN!! GAH!" He held his head, growling and groaning, muttering more incoherent words.

With a sigh UnDark held his head. "Since when did you start comparing me to that wimpy UnLight with his weak little heart? I want to go out and cause trouble, taste a little blood, not get all wishy-washy with some girl." He looked up, not at all amused. "Now are you going to let me go or not?"

Mukot growled low, not looking back. He was so angry that the Wrath that corrupted him was stronger than ever, making him angry almost constantly. The fact that UnDark looked so much like his father and younger brother wasn't helping things.

Shadow had run away. Serpent tried to betray him. Omega was banished, Nienor was dead, as was his mother. UnLight and UnDark were all he had, and UnLight had decided that the girl Evelyn, who UnDark had killed, was more worth the love than Mukot was.

UnDark was all he had left.

Maybe that's why he got defensive. UnDark was all he had. All that remained. If UnDark betrayed him or got killed somehow, he would have nothing left. UnDark was the only one who hadn't betrayed him; he clung to him, holding on to that security.

A security, though unknown to him, that did not exist at all.

Still, it was sad. This Guardian, corrupted by the Wrath that had chosen him, clinging to the only source of love he had left, trying to feel something other than hatred. It was a simple enough request, but...he didn't know if he could grant it.

He feared it. He feared losing UnDark, the one son he had gotten the closest to.

Not wanting to alienate UnDark by angering him, Mukot sighed, turning back around. His red eyes were heavy, filled with stress. "Yes UnDark," he said with a sigh, "You may do as you wish." He paused, then turned to the desk, putting it back in its place.

UnDark blinked slowly, almost as though stunned by this reaction. He wouldn't take the chance at Mukot changing his mind so he simply bowed his head, opening a portal. "Thank you...Father. I will be back in a few days. ..." He paused for a moment, then headed through, closing it behind him.

Mukot glanced at the portal in its wake. He sighed, falling back into his chair, holding his head and closing his eyes. "I'm losing control," he breathed with a sigh. "...he always...struggles just to call me Father. ...UnDark, why?"

In town, UnDark walked up and down the streets. It was raining, and he had switched into an outfit that was given to him as a gift. In his hand he carried a bag, presents for his twin sons, Akaious and Othadious. They would be a year old soon, once the holiday called Christmas came. Already the town was decorated for it.

UnDark was absorbed in his thoughts as he took in everything around him. Over the past year he had had thoughts and feelings he never thought he would. He felt sorry for UnLight, who had to suffer unspeakable torture simply for loving the girl Evelyn, the one UnDark had killed. He never thought he'd feel sorry for anyone, and while he hated UnLight still, he felt some level of pity.

Perhaps because he understood how UnLight felt.

He never imagined becoming a father, and now he had two little boys that loved him, clinging to him with giggles and smiles when he came to visit. He smiled some, thinking of them. He hated having to leave them...having to hug them and kiss them goodbye, not knowing how many days, or even weeks depending on how angry Mukot was, he would be gone, all for the sake of protecting them.

UnDark knew that if Mukot found out about his little family, Mukot wouldn't hesitate to kill the boys and their mother, before locking UnDark away just like he did UnLight. If he learned of UnDark's betrayal, it would send him over the edge. His behavior that afternoon made no illusions of that.

He didn't care. He didn't care about Mukot, or UnLight, or any of them right now. All he cared about was his boys...and of course, her.

He stopped at a store front, looking in at the goods behind the glass. It was a jewelry store, and the display table had necklaces, earrings, bracelets and rings of all sorts on it. The rings, in particular, caught his attention.

He remembered learning that couples wore rings to symbolize their union. It had almost been a year since he and Ophelia had been together in that way, and he realized he had yet to get something like that for her. Obviously he could never wear one, not while Mukot was around, but, he wanted to get one for her. He figured it would be the perfect gift.

Walking inside, he wiped his wet shoes off on the mat. Ignoring the people in the store, he walked up to the case holding the rings, taking his time to eye each of them carefully. Money was no object; he had his own...questionable ways...of getting it. At this point he wanted to pick the perfect one for her.

Not having an eye for fashion, nor understanding what a girl would really want, this proved a daunting task. He stood there for several minutes, unmoving.

"Can I help you sir?"

He looked up. A girl with red hair was looking at him from behind the counter. She was smiling.

This interaction was strange to UnDark. He was still used to attacking and hurting people and being as rude as he could possibly be. After all, he was still evil in the end. However, at times like this, the father and husband side of him began to emerge. This side, was in fact, quite shy.

"Umm...yes," he said slowly, thinking carefully over the words. "You see, my...wife and I...it is our first anniversary, tomorrow." He paused, looking up. "I say wife but, for certain...reasons...I never got her a ring. I'd like...to get one for her."

The girl tilted her head, then smiled. "Oh Happy Anniversary! You know, for the first anniversary, the traditional gift is a clock or a watch of some kind, with a carnation," she explained. She paused, then looked at the rings with him. "But from the sound of it it sounds like you need a wedding band. How about...this?" She reached in and pulled out a small black box, a golden band inside it. "You like that one?"

UnDark looked at it. He nodded slowly. "Yes, that will do just fine." He paused, grinning some as he thought of her. "She'll love this."

"You need one for yourself now."

"Huh?" UnDark blinked. "N-No I...only came to get the one for her."

The girl had already pulled out another box with a matching gold band in a larger size for him. She blinked, confused by his words. "Aww but, that's what wedding rings are for." She took the rings out of their boxes, holding them up. "You see? They're both golden circles. Circles never end. They just keep going round and round for all eternity. That's what a marriage is...a bond that lasts forever. That's why you wear rings to symbolize the bond." She smiled. "It wouldn't be right for her to have one and not you."

UnDark blinked. He never realized that rings had such deep meaning, and yet, when he thought about it, it made sense. He grinned slowly, nodding. "Well of course, you're right. Don't think I'm the kind that wanted to chicken out of wearing one...it's just..."

With a smile the girl interrupted, "No need to explain, I understand. Now...we've got carnations here too." She put the rings back in their boxes and closed them, adding, "You take that ring and the carnation to her and she'll be the happiest girl there could possibly be."

"Happy...," UnDark thought. "...I sure hope so." He nodded, and followed the girl to the register, buying the carnation and the rings, before heading out into the rainy night.

It was time to go home again.

"Daddy!!"

"Daddy's here!!"

UnDark shook the loose water off as he walked into the door. His lips curled into the proudest of grins when those voices rang into his ears. He looked and saw his twin boys snuggled up together on the couch, wrapped up in their blankets.

He felt his heart flutter; he loved them so.

"There's my boys!" he exclaimed. He walked over to the couch, picking them up, holding them both together, hugging them. "Oh you've gotten so big since I saw you last time." He pulled back, looking at them. "And your words have gotten a lot better." He grinned proudly.

Akaious giggled, hugging his neck. Othadious did the same. "Missed you Daddy! Mama!"

UnDark chuckled, breathing a happy sigh. He loved this so much. After a moment his ears twitched. He looked and saw her, Ophelia, standing not far from them. She was trying to smirk, teasing him, but couldn't manage it, and instead smiled, the softest of giggles escaping her.

"Mama, it's Daddy!" Akaious cried.

Ophelia shook her head, smiling. "I see. Aren't we happy he's here?" She walked up to them.

Othadious nodded. "Yep we are!"

UnDark watched her, grinning more and more. "And he's happy to be with you too." Glancing at the boys he said, "I've got something for you both, I'll show you in a minute, but first..." He sat Akaious and Othadious down gently, tucking them in, then standing back up, pulling Ophelia into a kiss.

Akaious giggled, as did Othadious, the two of them watching their father and mother curiously.

Ophelia moaned softly. She missed it as much as he did, stroking his neck gently. He pulled back after a moment, holding the carnation up. "This is for you, Ophelia," he said with a grin.

She looked at it, blinking. "A carnation?" She took it, sniffing it. "Oh it's beautiful UnDark but...why a carnation?"

UnDark blinked. "Because I'm a fool, remember?" he grinned, glancing at the twins when they giggled.

"Oh stop that," she teased.

With a laugh, UnDark shook his head. "There's a reason." He looked to the twins again. "It's been a year since we got together," he looked to her, "Our anniversary...right? ...that girl said carnations are the flowers for the first one." He grinned again, "Black roses next time I promise."

Akaious tilted his head; "Anni...anni..."
"Ver...sary...??" Othadious added, blinking.

Ophelia was just as stunned. "Our...anniversary? Is it?" She thought carefully. UnDark continued to grin, holding the box with the ring in it in his hand. He let her think it over, waiting patiently until she looked at him again. She smirked, her eyes gleaming. "Why UnDark...you're right. You remembered," she said. "Oh how charming."

"Give me some credit," he said, "I wouldn't forget the day I met you, ever." He paused. "There's something else..." He held the box up.

A soft gasp escaped Ophelia. "Un-UnDark is that..."

"Yep," he grinned, opening it. "It could be fancier but, I just wanted you to have something. ...the woman there told me that rings symbolize the bond because...they're little circles of gold that never end. ...probably the most clever thing I've ever heard." He paused, thinking about it for a moment, before glancing at her, smiling. "Happy Anniversary dear."

Stunned by what she was hearing and seeing, she brought her hand to her mouth. "Oh UnDark... ..." She sniffed, quickly wiping her eyes, "Damn you if you make me cry in front of the boys."

"Oh they don't mind do you my sons?" UnDark asked with a grin.

"Nope!" Othadious replied. Akaious agreed with a giggle and a nod.

"Curses," Ophelia muttered, before laughing. "UnDark really, just when I thought you couldn't be any more charming," she looked at him, "And here you are, being more romantic than ever."

UnDark chuckled, taking her hand and putting the ring on it. "I'm full of surprises what can I say?" Kissing her cheek, he held up the other box. "I have one too. ...I can't exactly wear it constantly, but..." he took it off, putting it on his hand, "I will when I can. Because Ophelia...our love is like a little circle of gold, it'll never end." He paused, grinning, "I don't need a ring to prove that, but, it's a clever enough idea, don't you agree?"

Ophelia blinked, smiling. "It is...," she said with a nod, kissing his cheek. "It's a clever idea, and it never will end."

UnDark glanced at her, their eyes meeting. The sweetest smiles either of them could ever manage melded into smirks, before UnDark pulled her into another kiss. The twins, still trying to process a word as big as anniversary saw this, and amid tired yawns, they giggled happily.

It was always a wonderful day when Daddy came home.
And on a special day like this, it was the most wonderful day there could be.

PHEW! Okay that was pretty much for just me and Gem so, if the rest of you read all of that, you have my sincerest thanks...and apologies...LOL

But yeah! December 4th is UnDark and Ophelia's anniversary! Yeah...we decided on December 4th because that was when Gem first drew them and everything developed from there. <3

Hard to believe these two used to be at each others throats eh? XD

I just hope I kept Ophelia in character X_X That's hard writing a character you don't control lol XD

But yeah...this story is based off the RPVerse we've got going so Mukot's brother Serpent is present and everyone knows he's the one that created UnDark and UnLight...yeah.

This would take place after UnLight's been imprisoned. Akaious and Othadious are one month younger than Autumn is, so UnLight's almost been imprisoned for a year.

While all this is going on UnDark has to deal with Mukot becoming increasingly hostile and strict on UnDark, not wanting to lose the only son he has left (Gem I think Mukot may or may not have met Voodoo yet that's why I hesitated with saying UnDark was the only love he had left XD)

UnDark lives a double life. He deals with Mukot's violent behavior while he tortures UnLight, and has to put up a front like he's still in it with him. He struggles to remember to call him Father to his face, calling him Mukot all other times.

In reality he wants none of it anymore. He wants only to go home and be with his family, now especially.

He remembers it's been a year since he and Ophelia became a couple, and he just has to be there.

...and no I don't know how this is their first anniversary and their twins are almost a year old XP

See that's complicated because UnDark doesn't find out about the twins until AFTER they're born, but if they hook up only a month before they're born he would have had to had known right?

...umm...let's overlook that *shifts eyes* LOL Gem and I will have to work it out eventually XP I guess in our little universe they could have the twins after their SECOND anniversary.

But for this story I think it's cute to have the boys there and just assume UnDark knew about them before they came, he would have had to. lol

I don't care it's a cute story and that's the way I wrote it XP

Perhaps for the sake of THIS story we can pretend UnDark knew about them ahead of time...or maybe Ophelia just didn't show much...or something...I don't know...oh whatever XD

But yeah! December 4th is UnDark and Ophelia's anniversary! Yeah...we decided on December 4th because that was when Gem first drew them and everything developed from there. <3

Hard to believe these two used to be at each others throats eh? XD

I just hope I kept Ophelia in character X_X That's hard writing a character you don't control lol XD

But yeah...this story is based off the RPVerse we've got going so Mukot's brother Serpent is present and everyone knows he's the one that created UnDark and UnLight...yeah.

This would take place after UnLight's been imprisoned. Akaious and Othadious are one month younger than Autumn is, so UnLight's almost been imprisoned for a year.

While all this is going on UnDark has to deal with Mukot becoming increasingly hostile and strict on UnDark, not wanting to lose the only son he has left (Gem I think Mukot may or may not have met Voodoo yet that's why I hesitated with saying UnDark was the only love he had left XD)

UnDark lives a double life. He deals with Mukot's violent behavior while he tortures UnLight, and has to put up a front like he's still in it with him. He struggles to remember to call him Father to his face, calling him Mukot all other times.

In reality he wants none of it anymore. He wants only to go home and be with his family, now especially.

He remembers it's been a year since he and Ophelia became a couple, and he just has to be there.

...and no I don't know how this is their first anniversary and their twins are almost a year old XP

See that's complicated because UnDark doesn't find out about the twins until AFTER they're born, but if they hook up only a month before they're born he would have had to had known right?

...umm...let's overlook that *shifts eyes* LOL Gem and I will have to work it out eventually XP I guess in our little universe they could have the twins after their SECOND anniversary.

But for this story I think it's cute to have the boys there and just assume UnDark knew about them before they came, he would have had to. lol

I don't care it's a cute story and that's the way I wrote it XP

Perhaps for the sake of THIS story we can pretend UnDark knew about them ahead of time...or maybe Ophelia just didn't show much...or something...I don't know...oh whatever XD

Anyway this description is long enough XD Not many complaints about the picture except that UnDark's eyes don't look like I wanted them too. No crits.
