Description
The Obbeeysian Countess class was designed by Quinn Fulton in 1905. This class of 2-4-0T engines was the first class in Fulton’s Nobility Line of industrial steam engines with a pony truck. These engines were designed to be more stable at higher speeds. This class was originally built with boilers able to reach 200 psi. Over the lifespan of these engines, their boilers were upgraded multiple times, making them able to reach higher boiler pressures.
As was tradition by this point, the Obbeeysian Coal Mining Company bought the prototype of this class, as well as another batch of three faceless engines in 1907.
The second member of this class was built for the Mwyllin Flour Mill. In 1935, this engine saved thirty workmen when the flour mill burned down. The company almost filed for bankruptcy near the end of that year, but the Keeshyn Farmer Association bought a controlling percentage of its shares and the mill was rebuilt and expanded.
