Description WARNING! This story and engine class is entirely fictional. You should take this story with a grain of salt. And no, the Dutch didn't really retain many of the steam engines that worked on our railways, unfortunately.

After the Second World War, the Netherlands needed new locomotives to rebuilt their railway network. The workshops of the Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS) weren't up to the task to built new locomotives, meaning that they needed to look for locomotives elsewhere. One of the places they looked at was Bea Works, whom among with the Obbeeys Railway, had had a small partnership since 1899. They requested for a heavy goods tank engine for short to medium ranged goodstrains. The NS wanted an engine that was easy, quick and cheap to maintain, and nonchalantly mentioned that this class would be deciding whether the NS would abolish steam on their network. The task of designing the class was assigned to Jan van Lohuizen. He felt great pride for both his Dutch descent, as well of his Obbeeysian descent. He didn't like the idea of steam disappearing in the Netherlands, so he put his all into designing a great engine. Taking inspiration from some of Bagnall's 0-8-0Ts, the 2-10-2T he designed was refined over the next three years with faceless prototypes at the Aaronsey Research Facility, being finished in June 1948. Ten were shipped over to the Netherlands immediately, where they turned out to be a great success. The NS ordered another batch of ten in 1950, and they requested a tender engine version of the Titan in 1951, nicknamed the Garg class. The Titan and the Garg managed to keep steam alive on the NS throughout the difficult years after the Second World War, although on a lesser level compared to the years before the war, and they eased the NS into a closer partnership with the island of Obbeeys in the Cold War. Another Titan was built for the Knock branchline in 1955, when the branchline was being rebuilt after its closure in 1875, for heavy goods on the line.
