Description
ALL THE TIME.Using bases, most are traced from screenshots or even other artist art without permission, are unoriginal, and hardly no effort in it.
All I have seen, are sloppy color-overs.
If you want to be more original, and actually put more effort into your "OCs"
Draw them yourself. Meaning, pick up a pencil, get some paper and DRAW. Use that paint program you use, and instead of color-over a base, DRAW it yourself.
I know, it is hard to draw on the computer with a mouse, but you can't get good unless you actually practice.
Use references, read tutorials, practice more, repeat.
Make your own art to be actually real original, put more effort into your art.
This is my opinion. YES I HATE BASES, with a burning passion.
No you won't make me change my mind, if you don't agree with me.
I am talking about traced bases that are colored over, horribly I might add.
If you actually make your own base from scratch, Kudos to you. You are doing it right.
Please use if you like.
If you actually took the time to read the artist comment, have a cookie.
Thank you.

Aren't bases supposed to get people started in drawing though?

I don't recall ever using bases in art class. Just drawing from life, and using references.

Maybe not you, but I do remember some drawing club, class or w/e the hell that was using bases to teach the boys from there how to start.

One can't keep on relying on bases, if they want to get better at drawing, they have to break off and draw on their own.

I know that. Which is why I said "to get started".

Okay then, the "artists" can stop using traced bases and the stamp makers can start drawing their own stamp pictures for stamps instead of getting them off the internet. It's only fair.

Do you see any pictures from the internet in this stamp?

I'm not saying your stamp, i'm saying stamps in general, actually when i looked at your gallery before posting the comment and didn't see any i hoped you would realize that i was refering to other stamps in general.

Oh.
I don't really know for sure, stamps are the only things on this site that are allowed to use copyright images. I've read it somewhere though I can't remember where.

Agreed! I'm especially tired of the 'but my art is bad' mentality a lot of traced base makers and users have; so many of them don't seem to understand that practicing more from scratch will help them improve, but tracing pretty much means they're only ever going to be as good as the person they're stealing from
I do have a lot of respect for people who draw bases from scratch, and people who put effort into using them creatively (like, not just recolouring parts and calling it clothes), though. It may not always be totally original, but the effort that goes into it can be huge, and it presents a result far better than just tracing and recolouring endlessly.
