Description
I'm a 'wanabee' Star Wars artist - I've never had anything published - so I when I think up a new picture I try to make it something that's original and presents a new take on familiar characters while also demonstrating my artistic capabilities...For this piece I imagined what might happen if the Predator had showed up during Empire Strikes Back in that scene when Darth Vader's telling the assembled group of bounty hunters to go look for the Millennium Falcon. I thought this would be a good scene to add some 'drama' to - because in the movie all we see is the characters just standing there. And I thought of introducing the Predator to the scene as the 'ultimate' hunter among a bunch of amateurs!
The Predator went straight for Boba Fett - realizing that he's the most capable of the group that Vader assembled. And he's serving up Boba's head to Vader as if to say "I'm better than this guy!". The other bounty hunters are all taken by surprise and are only just reacting to what's happened... too late! I think Vader would have known the Predator was there so isn't phased - he's just saying "You're gonna have to clean that up now."
The tagline 'Predator kills the Star Wars universe' is a play on words from Marvel comics' 'Punisher kills the Marvel universe'.
This is an original depiction of copyright characters that I don't own. Star Wars belongs to George Lucas/Disney, and the Predator belongs to 20th Century Fox (I think). This is fan art and isn't for sale or reproduction. It was drawn in Photoshop using a Wacom pad and is a very low resolution version of the original.

haha - should have done 'Gary Busey kills the Star Wars universe' - now that's frightening! - I've always liked him in whatever I've seen him in. As a big Ice-T fan I think his standout role was in 'Surviving the Game' - - an all-round great, but over-looked movie!

Aw, you shoulda killed Dengar or somebody else instead. Killing Boba Fett isn't cool, man.
Unless it's Prequel Fett, you can kill him all you want, he's non-canon anyways.

I know what you mean - and I don't have anything against Boba.
It's because he's the only one from that bunch that we really respect - that the idea that the Predator could take him out easily makes it a more effective 'what if' image.

Yeah but lets face it of the two of them a lot more people like Boba than the Emperor

Kind of the reason for taking him out here though - it's more of a shock if it's a character that's generally liked and respected. Also it had to be Boba because of the general comparison between two ultimate hunters.

Thanks very much. The detail and lighting look a lot better in the full resolution picture - but my stuff keeps ending up all of the net with people trying to sell prints and stuff without my permission so I only post low-res versions. Still - it's nice to hear that the effect still comes across.

I have thought about that - but I'd really prefer for people to see the whole image - I just try to strike a balance by putting them up in low-res only. It's just a problem we have to live with I guess.

Thanks - the Predator is one of my all-time favs - it's a shame it kinda got 'de-valued' with the AvP series.

RakaiThwei In reply to Robert-Shane [2013-04-14 22:35:39 +0000 UTC]
I disagree with that. I don't think that the Predator got devalued with the AvP series at all, if anything I just think that people kept on comparing it to the original film which had set their expectations too high rather than just seeing it as a film on it's own and enjoying it for what it was, a popcorn flick.
Now Robert Rodriguez's PREDATORS reboot on the other hand...

Robert-Shane In reply to RakaiThwei [2013-04-17 20:02:28 +0000 UTC]
Ok - maybe I was a 'bit' hard on the first AvP. It wasn't all bad - although I never liked how they set it in the Antarctic. The first two movies make a big deal of how Predators are attracted to areas of heat and conflict - so I always considered that an important indication about their species. I also thought that the young Predators were kind of inept and a bit too friendly. Plus - I think I'll always think of Kevin Peter Hall as THE Predator - he was perfect for it. But I did like the 'Chariots of the Gods' plot line and the inclusion of Lance Henrikson earned major bonus points!
You're not gonna try and tell me that there was anything good about AvP2 are you?

Yeah, Bubba Feets pretty much sucks at his job. I think if the Predator were to go against Vader, though, Vader would win, since he has magic powers on his side.
Awesome rendition.

By the very way the force functions it is a form of magic. It's not a power only found on certain aliens like star trek's vulcans, and it's not given to the user by virtue of receiving the lens from Arisia. It is treated with all the mysticism and religious dogma as if it were magic. Therefor by default it IS magic, controlled by ones will. Magic by any other name is still magic.
