We bought an aquarium the other day. This is one of the fishies inside.

Holy cow this is sweet. I wanted to do a shot similar to this but all I have at the moment is a pleco in the tank and he swims and hides when I try to take a macro shot.

Hmmmm. For this photo, I used a zoom lens and I sat far from the tank to not scare the fishes away. That might work for you, too.

Ahh I see. Ya the probably would work if I could do so. I only have a crappy Nikon CoolPix L20 point and shoot camera. Don't even know a DSLR

What I find stunning about this piece is the way you've caught the fish so... face on, you know? The fish feels a bit grumpy as well, but that's probably just me.
I like the focusing and the execution of this shot. The colours are caught and effect the atmosphere quite effectively, too.

Thanks. I really appreciate your feedback. You can't imagine how happy I was after I took this photo. I was patiently sitting in front of our aquarium waiting for this fish to face me. The colors were a bit of a risk but I'm glad with the result, too. Thanks again.
