Description
The creatures on the right are my version of the "sirena", the Philippine mythology equivalent of the mermaid. This has been on my hard drive for quite some time now, but I only had time to polish it a bit today.The blonde sirena on the far right's based on my close friend Frankie. (=guava )

That's a beautiful rendition of the scene of people interacting with mermaids. The feeling of the friendly transaction in the picture is well expressed in colors and character poses & expressions. I especially like the colors used for the sea and the sky, somehow has a dreamy effect for me.

oh this is beautiful. And I couldn't help but laugh at the coconuts. When I went on a family trip to Boracay, we were on a boat much like that one, and there were vendors on surfboards selling those coconuts. I think having those in the picture really makes for a "tourist" feel. hahahah

It's good that it reminds you of Boracay coz I used Boracay reference pics for the waters and clouds and such. I didn't know about the coconut vendors on sufboards, though. It would've looked cooler had I drawn them on surfboards.

I love the happy, casual, friendly feeling of this. I can almost smell the salt and feel the sun reflecting off the water, and hear the voices raised in friendly bargaining. Beautiful! Makes me want to be there.

Pretty cool image, great rendering as usuaul from you. I love the confused look on the blue haired girl. It can also be kind of creepy. I don't know about the Philippine legends, but in the U.S. sirens or mermaids are often said to seduce (or enchant) sailors and take them away or drown them. I wonder what's next for these three.
