Description
I'm looking for a man named Cupro. A man I had no idea where to find. To top it off, I was in totally unfamiliar territory on my first mission for the Cross Order. Oh, did I mention Cupro was also insane?I trudged through the streets of some town that I forgot the name by Baskerville. Lo and behold, it was raining. Imagine, I could be back home with a bottle of ale, sleeping through the day. But my mother just had to decide it was time for me to make something of myself. I had been something back home. The town layabout! Every village has got to have one! Apparently, that wasn't good enough for her.
Enough complaining, I have to fine Cupro right? Any man with that kind of name has to have some mental problem. Cupro Coven. What the hell am I getting myself into? No wonder I'm called 'the Fool.' Maybe I should just stay here and not go back to the Order. No one would miss me. I think.
I pulled my hood farther over my head. I hate the rain. It's just… wet. Makes everything wet. My poor gun. It was strapped to my black under my cloak, supposedly safe. Hell, even my underwear was wet. Not comfortable.
I looked around for a safe haven from this nightmare. Oh, look at that. An inn. Just my luck. I began to head over. Then the doors decide to slam in my face. Yep, just my luck.
I continued through the streets, everyone hiding in their homes for the night. Too busy sleeping to let a pour soul like me in. I was so wet I didn't even feel wet anymore. I began glaring at every house, cursing its inhabitants for sleeping on a nice, warm, dry bed. Then I saw it.
I clambered through the doors of a barn. Horses looked up at me, and then went back to their hay. Yes, ignore the innocent soaked man who only wants a dry place to sleep. Good horsies. I climbed up a wooden ladder to the loft. These places always provided weary travelers with a nice, but itchy, bed. I slowly felt through the hay, making sure no evil mice or something lurked there.
I yelped, almost falling to the ground, as a startled chicken attacked me. I quickly covered my face with my arms, then it fluttered to the floor. I stared down at it. I hate chickens. I pulled off my sodden cloak and laid it over the rough hay. I lay down, trying to get comfortable. Trying is certainly not enough. I got close to chucking my bag at a horse that was breathing to loud.
Darkness finally took me.
I stood in front of a burning home, people running past screaming.
A black monster climbed out of the fire, laying its red eyes on me.
Someone shouted my name.
My eyes bled as I couldn't find my voice to scream.
The Shadow loomed, its shining teeth engulfing me.
"WOOAHHHGGGG!" I bolted up, straw scattered on my clothes and in my hair. I blinked several times, forgetting where I was. I looked around at the horses, light shining through the open door. I looked to the center of the barn and saw a farmer, standing with a rake in his hand, staring up at me with his mouth hanging open.
I laughed nervously, gathering my cloak and bag, and slowly climbed down the ladder. "Uhh… don't mind me! Just an innocent uhhh…" I bolted out the door before he even uttered a word.
The sun was shining, warming up my damp clothes. I brushed straw off my cloak and hair, and headed for the inn. I decided to be nice and not harass them about how they left me out in the cold to get soaking wet. I sat at the counter, and ordered a warm bowl of porridge.
As I waited for the food, anxious to keep moving, I overhead a couple of people talking. I kept my head to the front, listening closely. Apparently they had seen a man walking out of the village towards Lorimar. He seemed to fit the description of Cupro. At least I hoped.
I hurriedly finished the porridge, paid the innkeeper and left. I sighed, realized I left my bag. Once again, not surprising. I went back in, grabbed it, then glanced at the men who were talking before. One of them was staring at me, his face hidden by his cloak. That's totally not suspicious.
I slipped out, and hid at the side of the inn. I waited a few hours. Watched people walk by, damn chickens, even that farmer I had startled… but no guy in a hood. I had decided that it was time to go around the time people started giving me weird looks.
I checked my gun, strapped it back on, then headed out of town, supposedly following the trail of Cupro Coven,
Little did I realize that I was being followed. Oblivious idiot.
