Oh, no. Alex is in real trouble now. She's fallen into the hands of her old arch-enemies, the Oppenheimer sisters. That's Elvira on our left, holding Alex's chin and pinching her nose shut, and Irina on our right, enjoying her long-awaited victory over Alex. Elvira and Irina went to high school with our heroine--Elvira a year older and Irina a year younger--and their feud goes back to those days. Back then, the sisters hatched a plot to orchestrate Alex's demise and called it Operation: Kill Alex. Basically, it was a targeted bullying campaign against Alex, designed to get her to kill herself. The fact that Alex is still alive today shows that the plan clearly didn't work. In fact, it backfired, as her years of hardship as a teenager acted as a "refining fire" for her character, her morals, and her faith, and she emerged from her teenage trials a much stronger and more determined young woman than she had been before. Elvira and Irina have been stewing over their failure to kill their enemy ever since. Now that Alex was brazen enough to walk right into their house and deliver herself into their clutches, they're determined not to miss this wonderful opportunity. No more indirect schemes that rely on things outside their control. This time, they've got Alex all to themselves, and they can do to her whatever they want. They've been blessed with a second chance on fulfilling their deepest desire: to bring about the death of Alex Whitfield!

The only thing stopping Operation: Kill Alex from succeeding this time is Alex's bodyguard, Bric. But he's been captured, too, and the girls' fiancées aren't taking their eyes, or their guns, off him. We're a long way away from getting out of this mess. Bric has got to figure out how to free himself and then free Alex. Can he do it?
