Description
Pryor Creek Bridge on old Route 66 near Chelsea Oklahoma, October 2016.We parked and my wife and I walked across the bridge together. We used the timer feature on my camera and clowned around a bit. Except for one car that crossed there was no traffic while we were walking about. When we got back in our car, we crossed the bridge to see if there was anything of interest down this short piece of old Route 66 (there wasn't). At that point it started to rain. Nothing heavy, but rather a light drizzle that didn't let up until late in the evening.
The Pryor Creek Bridge was built in 1926 and carried Route 66 traffic until a newer Route 66 alignment bypassed it in 1932. It is 123 feet long and 19 feet wide. Although I'll admit that I don't know what this means, it is a "modified Pratt Through Truss" design.
