Earlier this year, I learned about spam musubi. For those unaware, it's a Hawaiian treat that's essentially Spam sushi; it's a grilled slice of Spam (often marinated in teriyaki sauce or a similar sauce), resting on a block of rice, wrapped in nori. At this point, I've made it twice, with the first being my first time eating Spam. And while I might not be getting the Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, baked beans, Spam, Spam, Spam and Spam at the Green Midget Café, I liked it enough to where I might get the egg, bacon, and Spam.
Since I like giving new characters a favorite food based on something I've recently discovered I like, I thought I'd make Carl's favorite food Spam musubi. So here he is in his dorm room, grilling up some sliced Spam. He's slathered them up with some delicious teriyaki sauce, he's got some rice and nori waiting on the counter next to him, and he's ready to have that mix of Japanese and American cooking which he finds so tasty.
Also, he likes to wash it down with his favorite soda, Creamsicle Cola. Part of it is that he loves the orange-vanilla-cola flavor, but also because Spam mixed with teriyaki sauce is incredibly salty. So he needs the caffeine to combat the inevitable headache.
