In every depiction of her prior to this drawing, Soala's been 19. Here, she's 14 and in disguise! Wearing dirty clothing was a pretty good trick to keep her guards from recognizing her, however, the true genius of the disguise is that her hair isn't on fire like it normally would be.

At this age, Soala would have been in her first year of being the Champion of Fire. Becoming the champion made it both easier and more difficult to sneak out of her home and hang around the common folk. The biggest hurdle for her is keeping the fire under control so as not to cause any issues or serious fires in town. Huh? "Who is she fighting"? Why, her third vassal of course! But that's a story for another time.
