i read a pre-Crisis story entitled 'The Autobiography of Batman' and it was about batman freaking out because Scarecrow doused him with stuff and all his friends started to fade away (so he thought). But then he calls Catwoman out of retirement and they end up falling in love and a random panel tells that he did catch the scarecrow and that catwoman ended up dying tragically...the silver age was the best!
