not happy. a lot of work invested. looks.. decent but there's no wow factor. More contrasts need to be used.

You've perspective down quite well...it draws the viewer into the picture. Wonderful

It's weird how we always find things more interesting when there's so much depth added. need to remember this.

Maybe not a wow factor but it's very intriguing...I love the two figures in the binoculars lens....the tall figure suggests death to me waiting for the other to cross the river of life and meet the reaper on the banks.
tbis is not just crisp, clean work but also has an atmosphere.
i don't don't know what you think you need to turn this into a wow as I think this is beautiful work anyway.

feels unbalanced as the sky is totally clear while the forest is too detailed but then again i still don't quite know how to represent trees that far to also give the impression that it's trees and not just a dull mountain with some grass on it haha .. uhm.. the foreground at first was different, it had way more black but that conflicted with the mid area so i had to fully blacken it and then apply the white pencil
.. it's my curse. i sketch without thinking of volumes and how light touches some places and leaves some untouched.. and of course if the volumes are not correct in the sketch there's no way i can ink it properly since i still cannot work with big strong shadows .. i guess i know what i gotta practice next
I decided though to not let these things pull me down as they have in the past. one more practice sheet i need to learn from. and i learned that wasting 10 h on a panel(the first one) may give the impression of good work but in the end it's still the first half an hour that matters the most and even if getting inspired from nature i need to push it and work with it and imagine the end result with higher contrasts
i love your critique ! i'm pretty sure you're the type of guy that would say if you don't like something. and i want you to do that, it's fun and lovely to hear people's opinions but sometimes we see some mistakes as artists and forget about others and if you could point them out from time to time it would be insanely awesome

I'm terrible at assessing other people's work as I'm not big on the technical side of drawing and I know that means a lot to someone that wasn't to present the best work they can.
I think that's why I quit doing comics years ago as the commercial standard demands a lot of an artist regarding backgrounds, environment .
I think what you produced ( the shadows of the rail, the foliage ) was crisp and beautifully delineated.
I guess other elements of art attract me other than just the execution.

one more hint that your work is godlike.. having good proportions and contrasts without thinking of them in advance... i just hope one day to get somewhere around half of your level..
( ps : you're such a night owl ! )

You really are too kind to me.
I appreciate that...
My godlikeness is blushing in its resplendent divinity type thing that
it often does.
There is something of the night about me...even as a child...
