So you can't change the gradient colors then? Hmm, this is kind of hard to help you with online...I guess I don't understand the problem.

i think its under layer type
if your photoshop is the same version as mine then it should be in the layer box right under the word 'layers' and its a drop-down menu with the words normal, multiply, dissolve, screen, etc...
if that wasn't confusing enough i could send you a screencap if you like
