This one might be stretching it a bit, but I wonder what if all the worlds in Mario were just normal numbered stages? Like in World 2 for example, the unnamed desert stage just being World 2-4, and the actual World 2-4 being 2-5 and the actual 2-5 being World 2-6 and the Pyramid stage simply being World 2-7.

And in World 8, instead of a bunch of tank, battle ship stages, there are just plain normal worlds like World 8-1, 8-2, which there already are). But instead, they're on the first part of the world along with World 8-3, then in the second part, there are Worlds 8-4 and 8-5 and so on.

I've got the Airship Stage now before the castle. I got that idea from New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

By the way, if anyone wants to make a hack of Super Mario Bros. 3 using the stuff I've posted here, go right ahead. You have my permission.
