I look
At this blank page
And will it to fill
Fill with words
Describing how I feel
Yet even as I want this
I know
It is impossible
The mix of emotion
Boiling around in my
Mind, or soul, or body
Or wherever they are
Is too complex
Too much
For mere words on a page
This inner chaos
This stew of emotions
Can’t be read like
A recipe card
You can’t just say
“Well, there is two cups of depression,
And a tablespoon of rage,
A three oz package of loneliness,
And two large annoyances,
Oh, and don’t forget the
Listlessness”
I can’t just read it off like that
There is too much
Swirling
And mixing
That no one ingredient can be singled out
So here I sit
Full of emotional gumbo
And no one to tell me the recipe
