Description At last the predominantely grey winter weather is subsiding coulped with later sunsets it means i am able to get out.

Fleeting warming light from a setting sun across Dartmoor, the small building top right of image is the warren inn 10th highest inn in England and also the most remote pub on Dartmoor, one that has apparently had a fire burning in its hearth since 1845.

the granite you see in the foreground is part of one of dartmoors field system, used no doubt to contain flocks held by miners of the area at one time.

Shot with canon 14mm l mk2 prime lens, edited in lightroom and photoshop

You seem to be making good use of that lens, I take it you are happy with your purchase then?

Great colors in this one, Stephen. I like the composition, too. I recently was wondering, "what is the secret to shooting these images where the foreground is perfectly exposed although there is a bright light source in the picture?" When I try this, I either lose information in the sky, or my foreground is dark. That can be nice (see here: [link] ), but often it is not (see here: [link] [link] )

Thank you for your help.

bracket exposures or expose for the foreground and sky then blend the exposures together, or use graduated filters, its the only way....

I have heard that before, but never actually did it. I will have to try. Does your camera do the different exposures itself when you set it, or is it that you have to shoot at three different times?

Thank you.

most dslr's will have an auto bracket exposure setting and some compacts, obviously a tripod is also essential...

Obviously I haven't read all the manual of my D90 yet.
Thanks a lot.
