That plant/turtle guy I made based on a mythical creature that everyone cried "Pokemon!" on?
If anyone cries "Pokemon" to this thing, I'll kick you in the teeth.

It was a while ago. The first one looked really different.
It's in my Scraps if you wanna dig around, but it isn't anything special. Mostly I wanted to see what everyone thought of the idea with the first drawing.

I found out last time that this myth is actually pretty popular monster fodder, so it doesn't really bother me.
It's just...at least ten different people on the last one cried "Pokemon." I got it after the first time, you know? XD

Probably. There is also a a giant turtle in mythology that has four elephants on its back and a flat round planet on said elephants...and that is the basis for Terry Pratchet's Discworld.

It does strike me as similar to Genbu, the mythological turtle guardian of the north in Japan - but Genbu was a tortoise mixed with snakes, rather than trees. At least if I remember correctly. What mythological figure did you base this guy off of?
Also, this monster is deliciously menacing looking, mythological inspiration or no.

Ahh, he's based on Aspidochelone, or Fastitocalon. He was a giant turtle with trees and grass growing on it that sailors often mistook for an island, and died when they landed on it and woke it up.
