Title: A (Going) Merry Christmas
Pairing: Nakamaship, Zoro/Sanji

Comments: A Christmas card, of sorts. Dedicated to all the wonderful OPYaoi fans who have read our work and supported us so kindly over the last few years. For all the awesome artists, writers and viewers who make this fandom what it is. A happy holiday to you all.

Deviation: Linework by Jess (graphite), color by Kim (Painter IX). The coloring in this piece was an attempt for me to challenge myself -- ambient lighting is not my specialty. I tend to only put effort into it in collaborative images, since my own stuff doesn't exactly lend itself to challenging lighting. Jess's linework though gives me good opportunities to actually develop whatever skills I have as a colorist -- this is almost like the third in a set, with the pink-sunrise of 'Good Morning' and the yellow-afternoon of 'In the Garden', and now purple-blue-night. It's also my first *big* undertaking with Painter IX -- which I'm really starting to love. The coloring on this didn't turn out nearly as bold as I was hoping, in way of lighting but it was still good practice. One of these days I'll stop being afraid of high-contrast lighting.

In any case, this illustration goes with the second half of our Christmas fic which I think Jess captured perfectly. Just for the record -- the fic isn't entirely ZoSan; we wrote it specifically so that the first half of it would be nakama-friendly, for the most part yaoi-less. So don't be turned off from it entirely if you're not a ZS fan.
