One question:
If I am doing a, let's say, Unicorn or Alicorn refrence, how do I put the mane on?

That's where it will get a bit complicated. I would put the horn on the base, then I would copy the mane I wanted, paste it and get rid of all the color, leaving only the lines. Then I would put the lines on the head and line it up properly. Then I would edit the lines to fit the around the horn. Then I would color in the lines using whatever color I wanted the mane to be.

When you say get rid of the color do you fill it in white or the color of the base that your using?

Fill it in white, then use the transparent selection/background tool so that when you move it onto the bases body all you can see are the lines.

Wow, that's quite the reference sheet of manes. It must have taken a lot of work to get them all in that same one pose for every mane. Even if the pony was already in the right pose, it must have been a pane to copy them all into one page like this.
