Yeah. Well, I figure Sonic Team had best do something soon, or Sonic will be lost to them like Alex Kidd before him.

If they just got with the program and let Archie turn Sonic into a cartoon with their company....man that'd be awesome....I mean, let's face it, compared to Sonic X and SatAm...Sonic X sucked balls....

Yeah. But that's taste again, because in a better comparison, some like the random slapstick of AoStH whilst others preferred the more dark and gritty SatAM. But even those who loved both AoStH and SatAM loathed SU. In fact, by comparison, SU is tied with SX (American dub) as one of the worst Sonic shows ever.

Well, for me it's different. I personally I liked Sonic Underground, I found it to be an interesting take on the Sonic Universe. But you can't really count me since I'm one of those Die Hard Sonic fans. Like, I love games that others have said were lame. For example, everyone kept saying that Sonic Heroes, Sonic Riders and Shadow the Hedgehog sucked, while I personally love both of those games!

And whenever someone rants about Archie Sonic sucking, I just ignore them since I happen to be IN LOVE with Archie Sonic!

Well, each of them have their faults. But seriously, if you had to choose between any of the shows, SatAM would top my list.

Yep, me too. SatAm WAAY better than any of them! Although I have to admit, from a CLASSIC Sonic view, AoStH was funny too! Scratch and Grounder were hilarious! XD

All previous games have been made with the Japanese fanbase in mind, or something to that effect. Sonic Colors was developed with the North American and other fanbases more, and it kind-of shows--in a good way. It's very simple--Eggman's being evil, Sonic and Tails go to stop him and save those that he is harming (the Wisps in this case), just like the good ole' days!

'All previous games have been made with the Japanese fanbase'

No. The original Master System and Genesis and Game Gear games were made with the American market in mind, since they included a not-yet-named Mobius, Sonic (and later Tails & Knuckles), and even animals to rescue that resembled Princess Sally and others. It was since Sonic Adventure, after Amy's restructuring as a character, that things went downhill, IMO, with Amy acting stalker-like (nevermind the age gap between Sonic and Amy, which the Japanese ignore, not only because they refuse to age the characrers, but also because their culture allows for adult/minor relations [called lolita, I think]) and Sonic being shuffled through every gimmicky idea Sonic Team tries to come up with, only have most of them fall flat, seeing that all fans want is an old-school platformer (remember, though Sonic is known for speed, timing and strategy are also needed in the classic games, unlike now, where you can just barrel through each level).

All the post-1999 "3D" games, then.

As for the whole Sonic/Amy thing, it's only a few years I think.

I do agree with the whole "gimmicks" thing. The only times it "worked" for me was Shadow the Hedgehog (him using weapons actually DOES make sense IMO, since, as the ultimate lifeform, he would have instinctive knowledge on the use of weapons, etc.). Sonic using a sword in "SatBK" was actually kind-of cool (though it is a little odd that Sonic is anti-gun but okay with swords, unless he was just trying to survive in the new universe...), even though the controls could have been a lot better.

"Colours" actually has elements of speed, timing, and strategy. You can't just barrel through most of the game. There is some speed, but just like the classic games, speed is a reward for good platforming. I just wish they would have more "momentum", because Sonic still loses his momentum when he jumps. In the adventure days, when you ran really fast, you would go farther when you jumped than if you just jumped from a standstill.

Well, anyway, at least "Colours" is a step in the right direction (for most).

"All the post-1999 "3D" games, then."

Yeah. Most of them rely on gimmicks and speed moreso than anything else and when all fans' do is associate with Sonic is speed--especially when Sonic was a platform series like Mario to start with--the other elements, like story, timing, strategy, and character development are forgotten.

"As for the whole Sonic/Amy thing, it's only a few years I think."

Still, in the Western canon, we don't ignore age like the Japanese do. We actually acknowledge that Sonic is over 21 years old now (for his first game was created over a couple decades ago) and in the Western canon, Amy's change in character from an 8 year old with celebrity crush to a borderline stalker-like teen with the mental capacity of a 10 year old was explained in the Archie comics as Amy wishing herself older merely to be with Sonic, but even despite her aging, Sonic still chooses Sally over Amy in the Western canon, because Sally was established as a love interest in America before SEGA bought Amy from Shogakuken (Japanese manga company behind the Pokemon manga) in 1992--for concept ideas using Sally were done as early as 1991--and made Amy a SEGA character officially in late 1993, after SatAM had already aired and the comics featuring Sally made their rounds to nearly every Sonic fans' home. In other words, Sally was there before Amy, and as long as fans from Sonic's prime still remember Sally, she is going to stay, no matter what younger fans say.

"(though it is a little odd that Sonic is anti-gun but okay with swords"

It's a code of honor thing. Swordfighting is always considered more honorable than gunslinging, because a least swordfighting actually requires some skill, whereas shooting a gun only needs someone to pull the trigger. I mean seriously, shooting a gun has always appeared as being a cowardly way to fight--despite it being exciting--whereas swordfighting actually allows for each competitor to try and gain victory.

Of the many, many things I enjoyed about the adventure games, it was the character development. Of course, you don't need much of a plot for character development.

"over 21 years old" Since when?? Every bio I've read on Sonic says he's still a teenager. And his new voice is VERY "teenager".

I like both Sally and Amy, but Sally fits more into the SATam and Archie continuity. I'm not sure how SEGA!Sonic would even react to her...

You make a point about swordfighting being more honorable and needing a bit more skill. Of course, it's not easy to shoot a gun right off the bat. Unless you're the ultimate lifeform, I mean.

That's because they're using the Japanese canon and in Japan and in the games, they refuse to age the characters. Sort of like how Ash Ketchum is still 10, despite his show being here in the States since 1998 and being in Japan itself since 1995. In reality, both Sonic and Ash would be adults, if we actually took age into acccount, which is what the comics do. The comics have actually aged the characters, and it doesn't help that SatAM had Sonic and Sally be 16 right off the bat, anyway.

Never did catch much of the show; only time I could really watch it was just before school and most of the time I didn't wake up early enough. (bit of a night owl and mornings don't agree with me)

I did however own the first 127 comics and the tails mini series in it's entirety, along with a scattering of the knuckles origin stories.(until an almost ex-friend of mine decided to puke into the card board box I kept them in...)

Agreed on the original story line it rocked, Lobo, Chuck, Bunny, (the walrus?? Good god I've forgotten the techs name... Doooom...) and all the rest of the crew seriously should have made it into the games. I think if they had they could have possibly done just as well as say final fantasy seven's Avalanche and we all know how that turned out. Tail's was the only one to get any of the spotlight as sonic's side kick. Even princess Acornia was shuffled to the side.

The Choatix a knuckles spin off which in turn is a spin off of sonic made it into a game!~! I think espy that chameleon even made it into two... Why not the originals? It has to be a conspiracy against good writing and excellent plotting blast the flashy pop icon demons.
