Description
Fabric is a subject I don't readly try to capture in my work. This picture is another of example of my trying to experiment with fabric and a little texture. Also hands have always been a frustraiting challenge so I had to really sit down and make myself work on detail and yet use "indication" where I could.

You have some crazy realism skills, and I do love your portraits a great deal, but I find myself being drawn back to this picture. I think the folds look fine. Maybe not perfect, but to be honest, they don't feel like they're the focus of this picture. It's the emotion in this piece that stands out - the tranquility, the soothing quality. It lamost makes me want to snuggle down to bed myself.
As usual, beautiful and sensitive shading. I almost want this picture to be bigger, so that I can be enveloped even more in its comfort. !

Pretty. I like the compostition. It's really hard to draw people laying down...ehhe. I've tried. You brought an innocence into a grown woman while keeping her sexy...
I wish it was bigger so I could see the detail better. The sheets and pillow were done nicely. It's nice to bring the lines and wrinkles of fabric into any peice because its always a good contrast with the subject. Nicely Done!

I do see tranquility when I look at this..but more from the aspect as she's finally fallen to sleep after being very upset about something...I think it's the fetal position and the hands near her mouth. Both depicting and inner child that needed to be comforted. Definitely a very emotional piece and very pleasant to look at.
As for the wrinkles and hands....boy do I hear you..those are not my favorite either....you look like you did an excellent job...however it woudl be nice to see this larger. Your large version isn't any bigger then the small one.

Really, I'm not trying to plug my own crap, but check this out: [link]
Of course, ref was used. What helped me with cloth was to think of it as hair, really. It flows similar and can bunch, twirl, and hang like hair does. The hair on your pictures are amazing, so I think you can sketch a bit based off that. Just let it flow and remember what's pulling the fabrics. Also, Burne Hogarth did a great book on clothing folds, the best I've seen. K, enough babbling, hope I could help such a talented artist.

This is very beautifull. I have to agree the tranquillity of the piece is quite enjoyable. You have an excellent technique by the way. I'm gonna chek out you gallery now.

I do enjoy the emotional tranquility of the piece.
regardless of issues involved in depicting a certain effect (cloth, folds, and hands)
Those issues fade to non-existence when looking at the image in terms of emotional qualities of peace, tranquility, and langorious slumber.
Thanks for posting...
