Description
Shazeer'a, mercenary of the Black Widows, checked again the prisoners.
When the Black Widow Mercenary company get the contract by the Guild of Weavers of Negeémiliel, to try to catch the figure which ascended to popular myth of the Fake Priestess, many didn't believed they will be able to caught her. As well, most of the forces where occupied with the campaigns of Negeémiliel, so it was enroled for this quest some of the newer -but promising- recruits of the Black Widow.
The rumors about the Fake Priestess where thousands, but it was clear she was a magic user, was charismatic and a efficent hand-to-hand fighter, having defeated a platoon of mercenaries of the Light Blue Ribbon band. The Black Widows laughed at the Light Blue Ribbons, but this wanted criminal was to be taken seriously.
That's why, after such long and extensive tracking, and all the problems the impostor gave to her, Shazeer'a was surprised how much easier than thought was to defeat her!
"Please! You are doing a mistake!" begged the tall drow woman, who have been stripped of the priestess uniform she wrongly used, and who tied to one of the beams of the mine along with her minion, a small mountain elf warrior.
"No mistake here, Fake Priestess" the Mercenary of the Black Widows said.
"You-you don't understand! I'm actually an agent! An agent of an important Negeémi power!!"
"They all say so. But that's beside the point. So it's no mistake. The boss is paying for you" said Shazeer'a, before putting a rag in the drow's mouth, and then gagging her with one of the acolytal leggings of her fake priestess costume. Being a magic user, even with some seals, it was better to not let her talk.
Done for of the character Shazeer'a the drow Sworddancer, along with the Fake Priestess, the rogue drow adventurer of Maylara Maltree, and her friend, the mountain elf warrior Neroe.
This isn't really part of the continuity. And if ever it is -or could be-, it should be after Maylara's story.

I see. I still hadn't read it, but I keep an open tab in my browser.
Strange, I have so little patience to read in English...

Actually, I already read it. *Dark-Sigurd is a good writer. His language is vivid, not too simplified, but also is not too artsy. I also downloaded other stories in the series - it seems to me that I have read only first four of them.

/uuuuuu crap I spent more than an hour at work typing an answer here and then I accidentally lost it uuuuuuuuu now have to start from the very beginning (crying like a boy from Negeémiliel) /
Well, I've read it. It was a good reading, but it has its own, let's say, features...
No surprise that *Dark-Sigurd terminated Effria. It seems, he never knew what to do with her. She played her role only once - when Shazeer'ah had to kill her owner. Since then Effria was just a shadow, an unimportant and mostly mute character. As soon as she was expected to bring problems (what to do with her in Negeémiliel?) she was withdrawn from the plot.
It's so funny how people tend to promote their own characters at the expense of the others. I remember how ~animal-delos was exaggerating abilities of his Maylara, trying to make her a sort of all-mighty superhero shaking the foundations of the city-state of Negeémiliel. Now *Dark-Sigurd makes a new superhero, what wouldn't be bad if it was at least a bit plausible.
Do you remember the moment when Milvais came to Shazeer'ah to take what Quilintha refused to take? It was mentioned that Milvais was 'less experienced'. Okay, it was no insult. Maybe she was. Shazeer'ah was a sexual slave most of her life and she had to polish her skills just like Milvais was polishing her skills of fighting. If Shazeer'ah had failed in this art she would be simply disposed of and replaced by another, more skilled sexual slave. So, she was superior to Milvais in the art of love... With one little detail. During their journey by the sea, Shazeer'ah most of time suffered of sea decease, while less experienced Milvais was tirelessly satisfying 'her needs' with random women, then with Belád, and finally with Shazeer'ah. Okay, okay, Shazeer'ah was older, so she must be more experienced. But well, if it is okay with sex, it is not okay with another thing.
Two former sexual slaves, one of whom learned martial art from books and practiced with no partners, and another was just a tribal warrior, already had demonstrated some unbelievable skills when they killed the whole gang of robbers in the desert. Later, in the caravan they were noticed as incomparable warriors and were promoted to be the most important force in defense of the caravan. Good, excellent, but hey, what about our good familiars - the drow trio? Those who spent the whole life training as professional warriors under command of professional trainers. What were they doing to defend the caravan - and themselves, by the way? Nothing? How could it be? How could they hide, making impression that they have nothing to do in the battle - and it was in two days from the walls of Negeémiliel? What, did they suddenly decided to obey Belád (they always were rather disobedient)? It was not just unlikely - it was simply LAUGHABLE.
Also, super-smart Shazeer'ah and Effria learned basics on Negeémi Drow just by reading a book during one evening. Ivoÿn and Milvais didn't managed to learn any words in any foreign language for two years (or how long they traveled with Wrall's caravan?). Oh well, what language Ivoÿn spoke with Mr.Wrall when she thought she made an agreement with him? What language they spoke with Fluffy? Not to mention Quilintha who was trained as an interpreter - she seemed to forget everything she knew. Or, at least, it follows from the fact that Shazeer'ah tried to talk to them in four different languages on which they answered that they speak only Negeémi Drow... Either an attack of dumbness, or they were spies who revealed nothing to a stranger...
Oh well, ranting, ranting...

oh, that's thing of styles. I personally prefeer to have less powerful protagonists. My closest thing to that is Bog. And he is. Well. Bog. However other persons prefeer to have epic heroes, choosen by gods or destiny to have a greater purpose.
Effria, indeed, was tagging along for some time. I expected her to develope some more as character, but Dark Sigurd decided otherwise.
Now, at first I as well chuckled a bit of the "less experienced" Milvais. But indeed, a sex slave vs a horny acolyte -and younger- surely she is less experienced. But Shazeerah most experience seem to have been with males, I think! But it isn't much of a problem. :3
For the robbers of the desert, it doesn't impressed me too much. They are elves, with better reflexes and quickier. These bandits where... what? something mixed? And they where bandits, not warriors, and quite clumsy on that. Normally, elves can easily outmaneuver some slower enemies. Add some training to them -even if not much actual combat experience- and they can be quite deadly.
For the caravan defense, I'm sure as well, profesional soldiers as the acolytes, and the White Hermit, retired as warrior but a decent fighter himself, was as well a very useful and needed support, so I think they played an important role in the defense of the caravan. I taked that like this: Unlike the White Hermit, or the acolytes, Effria and Shazeerah where mercenaries going to look to work. So the caravan leaders would be interested in joining them. As well, the caravan seem to have lacked some hired mercenaries -and good ones!- for protection. Maybe "incomparable warriors" is a bit much, but surely they have been training -even with the trio of acolytes?- during different moments of the journey. And fighting some black orcs bands isn't as they where fighting elite forces.
Finally, for language: They did speak in several languages, but they answered in Negeémi drow. But as well, think that the Drow trio wasn't ever in the area Shazeer'ah was. They have learned other languages. (antorian orc dialect, Farian dwarvish, they spoke a bit of other languages, etc), but however, They don't spoke any language Shazeer'ah and Effria may talk. Surely, if they talked in, for example, Bazik, the "trade" language whidely used in Zarhuy, they will have understood each other. :3

I see Another thing which I didn't mention before - I prefer less of magic. It seems, in your world magic is less developed that in canonical elven/drow settings, and I sincerely like it
Do you plan to somehow coordinate your story with what *Dark-Sigurd wrote (when you will be able to return to this story, of course), or your story will be completely different?

Well, as you can see in my parts of the story, so far I have reduced greatly the demon/thing magician magic character of Dark Sigurd. For the magic habilities and such she have in her stories, are scaled down to my own.
As the fighting habilities, I could say. But rather than these -not minor- changes, much I woudln't change I guess.
and LOL, I was just seeing in the comments of this pic a discussion between Animal-Delos who will win, Shazeer'ah or Maylara. "Shazeer'ah's skills and experience are at least equal to or better than Roothar or Jamal. Acolytes, she could eat for lunch and still have room left over". Animal-Delos answer went in a similar way, adding luck to Maylara.
It will be fun when I match the poor things against Acolytal soldiers again, to see how they "eat them for lunch". Acolytes are well trained, and are good soldiers, but not invicible as you know. But still isn't so easy to defeat them!
Shi'Nill, or Rhea, or even Dahl'Arak herself, surely will love to do some sparing with these surface drows. XO!

As I said, everybody tries to make own characters superior to the others.
My opinion? If we forget the magic which enhances properties of certain weapons, Shazeer'ah in the battle is more or less equal to Quilintha and weaker than Milvais. Could be, she is a bit more inventive than Milvais, so in some real situations she may prove to be better. In their current state, the trio acquired some very negative experience which was especially shocking for Quilintha. I think, she became more careful and less confident - and it makes her weaker. But in the underworld each of the three will have great advantage over Shazeer'ah. She lived 150 years on the surface, she doesn't remember the caves. She will be as much stressed there as the acolytes are stressed when they come to the surface for the first time.
Oh, Rhea or Xuunera would turn Shazeer'ah into beefsteak, while Shi'Nill would make barbecue of her; she shouldn't approach any of them. The same they would do with Maylara, whatever somebody thinks I'm afraid, they could do the same with Milvais and Quilintha, too... Dahl'Arak herself is too busy to waste time for such things. Just for a little practice, maybe...

I'm going to be looking forward to that upcoming story! I'm particularly interested in the design of Animadelia and how it interacts with the surface.
It's possible that this pic could take place, as Neroe is planning on returning at some time to return her two drow friends to Negeemiliel. This could take place some distance away from Negeemiliel, as the two are about to leave kazrrad? This might be a lead up to the Animadelia trip, particularly as some conflicts might be expected in the "season"? Certainly an aftermath of war might be a big part of it, as well as good ol' Gaveo!
I wonder if Larylene might be a means of rescue from this predicament?
Larylene might wonder if those who hang around her are cursed to become slaves themselves?! LoL

animal-delos In reply to larqven [2013-04-04 02:22:29 +0000 UTC]
Well I was planning it that May and Neroe (and Larylene much to May's dismay) return to the mountain village so that May can see her family etc, she will probably have to explain Larylene off as her 'cousin' (let's face it, as a born slave, she can't just free Larylene, she wouldn't know what to do with herself) so then May and Larylene will head on their journey to Animadelia to find May's origins, Neroe staying behind for much needed R&R and etc. By heading there, then May can hopefully give Larylene to any family she might have or such. (Course she might have to do something about Chadie, well the whole Jabrahil trio, before leaving Negeemiliel in the first place)
So there is still a lot that can come and is possible, even if most of it happens in the next season. At least it appears Shab is over his art block and things are back on track ^^

Thanks for the info!
It's a good question as to how to finish the old story off and to start a new one. Certainly the end result of the Temple of Doom story will alter things. If everything goes south Maylara might have to escape Negeemiliel herself in the confusion and forget any rewards!
The Dahl'Arak question is a big one as well, I was always thinking that Danieh'le was just a general trying to get on the high council--but she's ON the council already! She's already about as powerful as she can legally get! Negeemiliel doesn't have royalty and the acolytal system functions as a sort of quasi-nobility I guess, but without any titles or lands other than "acolyte", Still the final battle was sort of between heads of state! Dahl'Arak being one of the nine on the council, and being a general with an army, certainly counts as a representative of the amorphous head of state consisting of the council.
Anyhow, as Dahl'Arak is higher than I thought, she might well become the de-facto ruler of Negeemiliel with her victory and if she can crush the Populist coup. Dahl'Arak won't likely become a governor of the surface--but perhaps her own mother Palmyra might be called out of retirement to fulfill that role? Maybe one of Laeh'le's older sisters might be placed in that position?
The Jabharil Trio? My "grand plan" such as it is, is for them to be background players on the Dahl'Arak stage. Being connected to Laeh'le as she's set to become their mistress. Events being seen through their eyes. Laeh'le herself might be posted on the surface, not in a barracks but in a big house as part of the governor's entourage. Her personal slaves evolving from domestics to her functionaries over time. Chadie in particular might be useful as she has more knowledge of the surface. Slavery is grim stuff, but I figure that the three can be freed later, in time, and be much better off than they were before being captured?
Although getting the three freed would be quite a test of nerve on May's part, either in staging some "jailbreak" or talking to Gen. Dahl'Arak on their behalf. Surely Dahl'Arak might disregard the laws if she chose, but as it would do her no good, and might even be a legal liability, and the three are akin to a trophy for a success Laeh'le achieved through fighting--will she? I confess that I'm rather fond of the speculated fetish Danieh'le has for trophies!
Shazeer'a was stationed at the "Fallen Doors" portal, my understanding was that was the gate used to attack the King of the Hill. Presumably much of the Negeemiliel farmland is near there. The Animadelia portal is seperate from this, and opens up into wilderness, not near any large drow controlled farmland or major trade route. Logically though, it's not far from May's home village, her biological parents being from there and dying due to their ranging on the surface.
It would be likely that the Animadelia portal was the route used by Hanster to reach the village? Probably, unless the village simply doesn't appear on a map, and Hanster had to find it the hard way, or otherwise went a longer way to get there?
It might be cool to see Chadie showing May around, indeed, that was one of my first thoughts! But May doubtlessly has other cousins, and aunts, to be found there? Missy Maltree had three daughters if I remember right? Those three daughters were planning on emigrating into Negeemiliel territory from the north, and clearly at least one did so. Those three daughters would be May's grandmother and great aunts.
There doubtlessly is some conflict planned for this chapter? The problems of Chadie might provide some contention right there! (Escaping from Shazeer'a might be another too, of course!) May might have to solve a problem created by Chadie's absence? Likewise, an aunt might be sad to hear of Chadie's problems, but pleased that her sister didn't die with all her family.
It would be indeed be interesting if May and Neroe got hauled in before Gaveo needing to escape any way they could! But that would make for a long and cumbersome story? If Shazeer'a was in or near Negeemiliel it would be do-able. If this takes place near the portal of the Fallen Doors, it would make sense that Maylara and Neroe might have to back track and come out through a lesser known portal, the Animadelia one? All along, with the Black Widows pursuing them?!

animal-delos In reply to larqven [2013-04-04 21:20:10 +0000 UTC]
Well that's the thing, still have to see which path the Temple of Doom mission goes, whether she gets out as she got in, or has to escape from the slave training house (probably the most likely scenario), or etc.
Danieh'le just wants as much power as she can amass, clearly. Since losing her friend as the high sorceress, and having one that is against her, as I stated before, it'd not be unfeesible to think she wants to reveal the high sorceresses working with the cult of the flower and planning a coup de tat in order to expel her from the position so her daughter can possibly move into it. And with her other daughter moving into possibly a General position, she'd have much more power than most families in Negeemiliel that her being an almost iron-fisted dictator is possible. And heck if she pushes hard enough she could try to get Laeh'le into some type of position even.
Sounds like a plan for the Jabrahil Trio, I mean they have to do what they have to do for now until they can be freed some day, heck if anything Laeh'le is just taking out the frustrations on them that she can't on May. Also Laeh'le is more sympathetic and understanding, if they pull her heartstrings that they have families and etc that are depending on them, counting on them, or expecting them to return, they could possibly get her to free them on principal alone.
May isn't stupid, quite the opposite she is highly intelligent (and intuitive, hence her penchant for getting herself out of the worst possible situations usually). So wouldn't do anything to hurt family or friends. So if things don't work out as she'd hoped, heck maybe she could try to trade Larylene for Chadie possibly? If not, she's gonna have Larylene as a travelling companion, and again I think it might be funny if bringing Larylene home with Thaergrud being like "oh who's this?" and Larylene being like "well I'm her s-" being promptly mouth-covered by May who would say "she's my cousin" before promptly dragging Larylene to her room for an impromptu chat about etiquette around her home, and how she can expect to be treated, if she helps Thaergrud with cleaning while she's there or such that's fine, and all that. XD
Oh it wouldn't be a May story if there WASN'T conflict, now would it? lol... indeed Gaveo is still probably after her despite the thrashing she gave to the mercenaries and the reality that she IS a magic-user. Heck even the threat she made to burn his place down probably made him more wanting to get her.
And you know how I want to write a story about the Black Widows... but I don't know, they're basically a special unit of the Negeemiliel army, often sent on the suicide missions? Plus if Quilintha is just making it home I'm sure her mother wants to spend time with her probably.
As I said though, I don't plan on Neroe going to Animadelia, she had no choice in the matter of going to the underworld the first time, and she's probably not planning to go further than the "here is the cave entrance, you probably know where to go from here" with Briiza and Hasstin as far as getting them home since the only reason for her to go is as a guide through the mountain territory and such. Animadelia would be no place for Neroe though, and because it's sort of a personal thing for May, it's bad enough to her that Larylene would be a tag-along, although she'd be welcome for the company probably, and she definantly couldn't leave Larylene at home.
All in all it should be interesting to say the least.

I'm pretty pumped about the idea of the the House of Pleasure! We'll see if that proves to be the escape route? As Maylara has become the favorite new toy of the High Sorceress, I can imagine that she'll be looked after though! She'll have to break out or sneak out somehow. Slaves often have many duties, so I can imagine that even in the House of Pleasure, sex slaves might do mundane activities, and May might be able to perform a metamorphosis back into an acolyte? Perhaps with Laeh'le's help?
It occurs to me that if the slave overseers are counting noses, Chadie might be substituted for May via some "slight of hand switch"? As Chadie is also a bit bigger, taller, bustier than the average drow and looks a bit like May. A casual inspection might be fooled, on the other hand, it may be too much of a stretch to the imagination for that to work, and may not even be necessary?
The biggest gain by such a switch is to avoid alerting the High Sorceress that her new slave has vanished and her defenses have been breached. May could then catch the High Sorceress's daughter with the box with the expectation that it will contain truly damning info.
Dangerous though, guards and certainly trainers might quickly notice that Chadie isn't May, they are cousins, not twins! Chadie might spill everything to. She's been sort of "broken in" to talking! Although it would be a good way for her to score some serious points in a review of her case!
Speaking of switches--well--I've thought of the idea of Chadie getting subbed for Larylene. They would even still be the "Jabharil Trio" in a way, as Larylene is believer if not having ever been a fanatic. A big fundamental problem with this is that the "Trio" are three "fighters" that Laeh'le took down by herself and on her own initiative. Lo'Kee wants them to be a gift to impress her powerful matron that she DID manage to teach Laeh'le something. I sort of imagine that Shi'Nill would be pleased to have tangible evidence of her little sister's success.
Even Danieh'le herself might like the idea of having the three close at hand when entertaining a guest so as to show off 1.) what her youngest daughter has done (Laeh'le could use the buffing, Shi'Nill and Rhea's positions do much better at speaking for themselves!) and 2.) that even while she was crushing the King of the Hill, the Dahl'Arak family had a hand in crushing the Jabharil threat.
Of course, if Ver'acea (the High Sorceres's daughter) gets captured by Lo'Kee in delivering the message, it is possible that the Dahl'Arak's could get a far, far better enemy than poor Chadie as a slave!
Again, though, if Dahl'Arak ever makes the connection with Missy Maltree, all such bets are off, and the more slaves the merrier!
The Black Widows are probably fine for adversaries. They are a crack mercenary unit, but still inferior to the average acolyte. Acolytes--fear them! (Unless you are a dwarf nameed Roothar, or a loranor named Jamal! Those two make acolytes look like mere minions!).
What can I say? I like the looks of Maylara and Neroe together in this pic! Yeah, I doubt that Neroe wants to go underground again, but she'll probably try to meet up with May if she can, as soon as she can, rather than just trusting her to make it out? That was the point why she kidnapped the two drow.
Speaking of which, there seems to some sparks of love between Briza and Neroe? We can only speculate about the complications of THAT!

You, me, and everyone else I suppose. XD Guess it's inevitable that May will wind up there and we will meet this Zarolin and see what they are like... probably not good for May as she will likely have to endure some 'training' just like she did at the hands of Lo'kees hubbie, before she can be rescued/freed/escape/whatever. Perhaps what'll have to happen is Laeh'le will have to come in as a Priestess saying that the slave (May) is needed immediately for whatever to get her out of there, by the time the High Sorceress bothers to check in with Zarolin or etc, the raid on the temple could have already been underway? Besides, do remember, the box is sealed by magic that any spell but the EXACT one used to open/close it would cause the documents inside to be destroyed, May doesn't have to get the box from the daughter, the soldiers can get it in the raid, after they have the box in possession, May casts the spell she stole from the High Sorceress, box opens, documents that condemn them are had and myeah, actually it'd be kinda fun, and I'm sure the type of thing Danieh'le would want to do, is have the box, the High Sorceress and her daughter in a room then bring in May to open the box infront of their eyes which would incite a "But how?!" reaction from them. Course I can't recall if they have to already have the evidence to do the raid, or if they do the raid in order to secure the evidence and use that to then justify the raid in the first place?
So no need to place Chadie in any sort of danger, or heaven forbid a situation that scars her for life, May is strong willed, if she wasn't, she'd be insane or broken by the things she's been through and had to do... Chadie might not be so strong.
As for Larylene and Chadie, have to discuss it with Shab for the most part, I think whoever you, him, etc have plans for the Jabrahil Trio which probably leaves Larylene in May's charge, heck Larylene would probably take to calling May "Mistress" and if May insists to call her May that would lead to "Mistress May" and frustrations of "No, just May, damnit! Sigh... what am I to do with a slave..."
As for if Dahl'arak makes the connection with Missy Maltree, it might be bad at first, but as long as May somehow mentions her Uncle Corvin, and triggers THAT memory for Danieh'le, it could completely 180° her? That a mountain elf who saved her despite what she was and helped her, also was part of another Drow's life and upbringing? Heck that'd give May and her something in common, she might even start to take to May as a sort of 'adoptive daughter' herself? Heck wasn't there some mention at some point of her wishing May was her daughter instead of Laeh'le because of how adept at magic and how strong May is?
And the whole Neroe thing is up in the air, because eventually Briiza does have to go back, as for her and Briiza, it was more of a experimental thing, if so many people said it, she might as well try it, but she's actually straight, already discussed all this with Shab as it was a thought that Neroe and Briiza may have become lovers but he said no so yeah.
I should note him to tell him to read all this stuff for ideas on the pathway and all... also about something else I forgot he still has to do... XD

Ok, I have to weigh in here. I know Shazeer'ah would be incoming just after the whole Temple of Doom episode, so I won't speculate on that. However, it is the the after math that concerns me, and I shall make mention of here.
First off Shazeer'ah and the drow trio have, at the end of my most recent story, vowed to keep in touch. Plus, Quili promised to put Shazeer'ah in touch with her mother and the mercenary band called "The Black Widows." Both of these will keep her at least occasionally in touch with Lo'kee and her band of misfits.
This is where it really gets complicated, Shazeer'ah's story will be taking place in the same temporal and physical grid(nerd points for that one...) as the Drow Trio, The Jabrahil Trio, and possibly the end of Maylara's story in Negeemiliel. This creates the potential for a collision of epic proportions as all the mentioned stories collide. I have no idea how, yet, but I am working on it.
Now, for the record, Shazeer'ah's skills and experience are at least equal to or better than Roothar or Jamal. Acolytes, she could eat for lunch and still have room left over. Add in that she is a spell caster as well, and she is a very dangerous person. I will cover just what Sigurd did to her in a min, slight spoilers but nothing significant.
One thing that Shazeer'ah is going to be looking for is companionship. She just lost her only friend in a very tragic accident during a battle. This means that once she joins the Black Widows, she is probably going to wind up putting together a team that works together well, and that she will hope will fill the void left by Effria's loss. But she is always going to be comparing their skills in battle and trustworthiness against Effria's. Other talents are going to be a boost, but little overall consequence. Whether or not it winds up being an "official" Black Widow's unit is going to depend on a lot of things, and mostly where I take this.
Another thing about Shazeer'ah, she is a former sex slave/slave body guard. If, in meeting Maylara, be it just before she leaves for home or after some future return, she gets a chance learn May's story/history, you can bet that Shazeer'ah would aid her in any way she could.
However, she has little pity or sympathy for slaves who don't fight to change their status, be it with blades or otherwise. SO, she could conceivably wind up owning slaves of her own, however she would treat them far more kindly than most masters. They would be purely functional though, such as keeping her armor clean or her bed made. Lesbian slut she may be, she still won't ever force anyone, let alone a slave, into sex without their consent. That is iron clad.
Now for what Sigurd did. He gave her three things. A sack of a thousand Negeemiliel gold pieces, the scimitar Desert Wind, and a spell book with many spells in it. Up till now, she has been fighting with a master work scimitar and a mundane, everyday scimitar, and relying mostly on her own skills as a warrior because she has only just begun figuring magic out.
The money is the easy part. With it she can purchase fine armor and possibly her own place in Negeemiliel. A good start indeed.
She would need time to study and practice with the spells in the tome before she could start using them in her battle repertoire. None of them violate Shab's rules on magic, as they all just simply manipulate energy in one form or another. However, many of them are quite powerful and will only make her that much more dangerous.
Lastly we come to Desert Wind. I don't know if any of you have ever read the D&D supplement "Weapons of Legacy" but it is THAT Desert Wind she was given. It has a few limited use powers, two of which I consider to be extremely powerful, and a constant effect. This is the only part that Shab and I will have to get together on before I continue the story.
And now that the long-winded explanation is out of the way, I only find myself wondering where and when the cross-overs might be found. As I said at the start, this story has the potential to cross over with Maylara leaving, the Jabrahil trio, so there might be some chance meetings to be had.
Let me know your thoughts on this.

I had completely forgot about Shazeer'ah being with the Trio and such, so I guess it is understandable she could meet up with the Black Widows through Quili, (heck I still want to write a Black Widows story myself to regail one of Quili's mothers units missions or such), but that's the real thing that is tandamount, whether or not the Trio return before May leaves, because it's all the more possible that when the Trio returns, Lo'Kee will have some words on how "this one individual (May) who isn't even an acolyte, has done better work for me in the time you three have been gone then you have EVER done" or something to that effect, and with the trio's personalities, Milvais would likely try to sexualize May, Ivoyn would try to mess with her (prolly getting stunning spelled in the process), and Quili would just be, well, Quili. If the Trio meets up with Lo'Kee before May is dismissed/discharged/whatever to leave Negeemiliel, that right there is already a potential for a crazy encounter.
That's the other thing, as formidable as Shazeer'ah is, May has now had a buttload of training, enough so that she probably could take Roothar in a fight if they ever had a rematch. And you'd have to think that if they sparred, Shazeer'ah would have to do it without any magic, because that would play right into May's hands and her advantage of being a spellthief, which is probably the ability Shazeer'ah would MOST respect her for and wanting to know where she learned it and etc.
Also it is still possible for Dahl'arak to want May to teach Shi'Nill and Laeh'le things before going, if at all possible. (Heck Dahl'arak is the type whom if Shi'Nill was readily available she'd simply tell her to cast something at May in order for Shi'Nill to see for herself when May reacts in self-defense.) there's also the matter of Lo'Kees hubbie, May really would love to get a good kick in the balls on him before she leaves Negeemiliel, and something I'm sure Captain Lo'kee would be more than happy to oblige, she's earned it for her success on her missions, and as payback for what hubbie did to her.
As for D&D stuff, I can't remember if I have that book, but currently in a game I'm playing with a group my chara has a sword called "The Kiss Of The Desert" which being a named weapon is has an ability or two and all, shocking burst is great lol.
Anyway it's mostly up to Shab what he does, I sent him a note telling him to read the exchanges between me and larqven here for ideas, as well as, if everyone wants to see The Pleasure House and hell I'm curious too, let's give the people what they want, ne? lol... May will just have to make her escape from there, though it may not be made easy depending on how much of a dominatrix Zoralin turns out to be.

The Pleasure House would be interesting, and depending on it's location relative to the temple and the security of the place, it might be an easier, or harder escape route. We shall just have to see what Shab has in store there.
As for May vs. Shazeer'ah, my bet would be on Shazeer'ah. Her fighting style has only recently begun to include magic. And the spells she knows best all just aid in her damage output. Such as wreathing her sword in magical flames. A bonus, sure, but nothing but a side note for her. If she couldn't use magic against May then it would matter little. Between them, Shazeer'ah has more 'hands on' practical experience in combat. Training is good, but when the enemy pulls something you don't expect it is going to be your experience and gut instinct that are going to save you. And that is where Shazeer'ah excels. Her whole fighting style is one big adaptation, meant to flow with the course of the fight.
However, if May were to reveal she was a spell thief, then Shazeer'ah would be more interested in having her on her side, as she would recognize that May would have many useful talents. I do plan on her creating her own team and possibly being a SpecOps force within the "Black Widows."
Desert Wind admittedly doesn't break Shab's rules too hard, as I just finished going over it's abilities again. It does a little extra flame damage, but provides a moderate boost for defenses at will. Kinda like imparting a little extra knowledge of when and how to block. The spells the blade is capable of casting aren't too different from energy manipulations. They are, "Fiery Slash" -Burning Hands- (sweeping the blade to create a cone of fire), "Howling Wind" -Gust of Wind- (thrust the blade to create a gust of wind that knocks opponents down), "Fan the Flames" -Fireball- (immerse or wreathe the blade in fire to create a fireball centered on you that you are immune to), and "Dust of the Desert" -Disintegrate- (point the blade and utter the command word to fire a ray of energy that reduces the enemy and all his possessions to dust or heavily damages them). The blade also produces an increase in flexibility/reflexes and makes drawing the weapon effortless. Probably the least of it's effects are that it makes adapting to and enduring a new climate no problem.
Also, among the spells that Shazeer'ah will be studying is the aura binding spell to cancel out a mage's spell casting ability. Most of the rest are either attack or buff spells.

Yeah indeed, just going to have to wait and see.
As for a fight between Shazeer'ah and Maylara, true Shaz may be better skilled... but May has luck on her side in addition to skill. Wouldn't it just be unfortunately if admist all her movements one like misplaced pebble causes Shaz to trip and fall or something? That's the kind of luck May has XD.
May has no quams about revealling she is a magic user, they are common enough, spellthief though, usually not unless necessary but she's still a rogue too, that semi-klepto nature is there when it comes to spells (hence her quick to YOINK Laeh'les stunning spell when they first met), and knowing what the aura sealing spell is, she'd steal that to keep it from being used on her, and use it back on the person who used it in the first place, which would suck for them to have their aura sealed when they intended the opposite? XD
As for the sword, well, that's between you and Shab and what he will allow in his world. I can see a few of the abilities being okay, but not the Disintegrate one cause well, yeah... lol

I noticed that I forgot to mention that all these powers can only be used a limited number of times per day or so. That last one is also the most restricted. As far as it goes, it is described as a green ray of energy. What energy, I don't know. What ever it is, it is powerful. However, the sword is kinda like a self-charging battery.
And a word on luck; it is a fickle mistress. One moment it gives, and the next it takes away. Far better to rely on skill and experience.
However, I could so see May and Shazeer'ah being good friends. I don't know about working together, but it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility.

Larylene? I have so much characters I forget about them? or isn't one of my own? XD
(reading further your comment to Larqven) it's the former unnamed slave May get for herself?

Yes, she's now named, and in May's charge, much to May's disdain, May doesn't want a slave, but Larylene sort of won't take no for an answer as May liberated her from the temple and now she has no other choice so yeah XD

Oh. no, it wasn't originally Thaergrud. I think that it was Laeh'le who suddenly changed into a "sexual predator" upon getting time alone with her male penpal/boyfriend.
She said words to the effect of "We are young, healthy drow, we should do drow things!"
