Description Dhabu climbed down Pride Rock, and neared Mohatu to stand by his side.

For now he let him do all the talking, as much as he wanted to cuss Tayari off, and tried to pretend that he wasn't late at all.

The two cousins noticed Dhabu arrive however and sent him mixed glances.

"Dhabu! It's been so long!", Dhahiri, newly crowned monarch of the Night Pride said, genuine smile painted on her features. "How you've been?"

"I've been good, it's great to see you too.", Dhabu replied with a nod. He was happy to see Dhahiri. He liked her. He also liked Safi, and it was a shame that they couldn't come. It was Tayari he couldn't stand.

Tayari raised a brow eyeing the younger prince. "You've grown up.", he said plainly.

"I have indeed. You have too. You finally grew a mane!", Dhabu remarked.

"Well, I was wrong. You only grew up physically.", Tayari smirked.

"Prick.", the younger male growled and Mohatu shushed him, trying to maintain the peace.

The dark maned lion just smiled, only a small bit of nervousness showing through. He cleared his throat. "Welcome to the Pridelands once again! Outside all the business, I hope you will enjoy your stay here and make yourself right at home."

Dhahiri waved a paw. "Mohatu, we might be on business, but the formalities aren't necessary."

"Oh, I insist. Manners are important."

"At least someone here knows how to behave.", Tayari said, acting casual.

Dhabu caught the bait immediately and glowered at his cousin. "Are you implying something?"

"Of course not, my dear cousin. It was Abasi I was referring too. See, he didn't even say a word and he was being all gnarly and everything..."

"I wonder why...", Dhabu rolled his eyes. "For being an ambassador, you aren't very good at conversations. I bet you didn't even try."

"Dhabu...", Mohatu warned.

"And you for being a royal advisor, you aren't very good at keeping yourself at bay, something that advisors must be able to do."

"Tayari, please stop.", his sister said.

"Oi! At least I don't make backhanded remarks every two minutes!"

"Excuse me, who called me a 'prick' a few minutes ago?"

"At least I was being direct about my issues with you."

"Both of you, stop it!", Mohatu stepped in, sounding not angry per say, but he was wearing his strict persona at this point. In a softer tone, he continued. "How about we all calm down, and be civil."

"A great idea if you ask me!", Dhahiri agreed cheerfully. "Let's start with apologising to each other, yeah?"

Tayari sighed. "You are right.", he complied and looked Dhabu right in the eye. "I'm sorry for what everything I said."

Mohatu expectantly looked at his little brother, and Dhabu looked back questioningly. "What? No, I won't be apologising to this-"

"Dhabu."

"Fine. I'm sorry. Happy now?"

"Very much.", Dhahiri smiled. "Thank you."

Tayari just snorted, his eyes holding a glint of satisfaction in them.

Mohatu sighed in relief. "I would also like to apologise on Dhabu's behalf-"

"Excuse me?", Dhabu gawked, but Mohatu ignored that.

"-I don't know what's gotten into him today."

"You're not the only one who has to apologise.", the lioness replied. "I also apologize on the Night Pride's behalf, for my brother has been out of line too."

Dhabu rolled his eyes. He simply didn't understand adults. On the very least she did admit that Tayari was being a prick in this situation.

"Now, with all apologies said and done, why don't we get on with the actual business?", Mohatu suggested, motioning his head towards Pride Rock. "You would like to get all rested first, or we can just get started?"

"I think we are good, we got some sleep before we came here."

"Alright then, good."

Dhahiri followed after Mohatu, leaving the two rival cousins all alone, simply watching at them leave in exasperation.

Dhabu was about to go too, but was stopped by Tayari. The younger prince stared up at him, to see green eyes gleaming with malice.

"You better be good, Dhabu, or else..."

Dhabu blinked and then raised a brow. "Then what?"

He expected it to be a simple bluff, but the ominous look on his cousin's face said otherwise. "Trust me, you wouldn't like to know, Dhahibu."

The golden lion felt a chill run through his spine. Noone except his parents, brothers and Mpendwa knew that the full form of his name was Dhahibu.

"How did you-?!"

"I know many things, Dhahibu. Many things that you don't. So, you'd better heed my warning and behave."

Dhabu stared as Tayari walked away after the other two lions, feeling an all new kind of fear settle in his chest. With a deep breath, he followed after them.

•••

The negotiations went well. Dhabu just watched as they all talked of laws and royal terminology he didn't quite understand, but knew that he would have to learn eventually.

Tayari was mostly quietly, only speaking to bring up details that the other two might have forgotten about. At least he was being useful. Dhabu felt completely out of place.

"Is there anything of importance we got to talk about?", Mohatu asked, eyeing everyone in the meeting area.

"Well~, talking about the role royal advisors are supposed to play?", Dhabu asked with a smile, tilting his head as he looked up to his older brother.

Mohatu looked confused. "What do you mean?", he asked with a frown.

"I-"

"What he wants to say...", Tayari quipped. "... is that he wants attention."

Dhabu was already fuming. "Don't you-!"

"And I incline to agree with his question."

... What?

"Because, what are advisors supposed to do? For being an advisor in training, you didn't quite let him have a say in anything."

"I think Tayari has a point.", Dhahiri agreed.

Mohatu gaped. "I- Alright, you have a point there, and I'll agree that's our fault. He is supposed to be an advisor which means that he needs to have a say in things, but we haven't yet taught him everything he needs to know, and that's on us."

"That's good to know. At least you admit that Prince Dhahibu isn't fit for this role."

"What? Where'd you get that from?"

"Come on, look at him. Everything about him screams 'I have no place in all this and I don't want to'."

Mohatu cleared his throat. "Ambassador Tayari, I would like to ask of you to mind your words.", he said in a warning tone.

"I'm just saying, King Mohatu, perhaps it's not too late to change your mind. Why waste time on training a lost cause?"

"Lost cause?!", Dhabu yelled. "Like you're one to talk! You're the firstborn and you can't even get your grabby paws on the throne of your own kingdom!"

Tayari's gaze was turned on Dhabu and his gape turned into a hateful glare.

"What, you think I don't know? I'm not stupid, 'dear cousin'. At least I have an reason for not being able to become king, I'm the youngest. What's your excuse?"

"You little basta-"

"DHABU! TAYARI!"

The two lions in question stopped and looked Mohatu. The dark maned lion was at his limits.

"Honestly, I am done, with both of you! Out, now!"

"Mohatu, I-", Dhabu started.

"We'll talk later.", he said.

Dhabu simply stared at him. Mohatu had never been so angry and disappointed before. He turned away and left, with the same emotions starting to bloom in his chest.

He didn't get it! Mohatu was right there, he saw how Tayari purposefully tried to rile him up, so why was he angry at him? That was unfair!

Walking up to his cliff, he saw Mpendwa and Busara sitting there and talking. They both turned their heads noticing him.

"So, guys. Are you up to doing something?"
