Description The child reached up to grab two hands, only one was held. “Mama,” The child asked, looking up to their mother with wide eyes. She was humming today, swinging their arm gently. What was happening? Mama never did this. Never looked so… happy. “Mama, what’s going on?” they repeated themselves, before their mother stopped. She knelt, and a sad smile is given as she runs a hand through their hair.

“We are going to see your father, little one. He wished to see you.” At least, that is what is offered. The child gives a beaming smile, and reaches forward to tug on their mother’s face, forcing her to have a cheesy smile. She laughs softly, ruffling their hair once more before straightening. Their walk resumes, the humming starts up again and their hands swing in time. The sun was shining, and there was a brilliant blue sky. The bees hummed in appreciation as they flew from flower to flower, and the wind brought a cooling breeze to their cheeks as they walked.

“Mama,” the child speaks again, “Mama, why are there stones everywhere?” They edged a little closer to the woman beside them, and she gives a heavy sigh. Oh no… Mama was sad again. Their happiness melts away, and they let go of their mother’s hand to hug her knees reassuringly.

“Because, little one, this is where your father is.”
