The Joker generaly has green or greenish hair, pershaps if you watered down some green paint, and went over the hair lightly, it could be more true to the character?

Yes BUT in The Dark Knight (the latest movie with Heath Ledger) Joker's hair is NOT green. It's more like dirty golden with a little bit of "lime"
