This looks awesome! I'm quite jealous of your animation skills. I've been meaning to learn how for a while; never got around to it What did you use to animate this?

Thank you..!
I've used PhotoShop CS5, apparently it has this animation thingy you can toy with..
(and silly me, I just used PhotoShop to paint all this time.!)

I have been using CS5 to work on some animations... This is very fluid and well-timed, which I struggle with. Do you draw each individual frame on a tablet? Or do you can in the images and clean them up? I think this is very well done, and the body motions are excellent

Shtut In reply to AriadeMezzoCarattere [2012-07-22 11:41:52 +0000 UTC]
Well first I draw the rough sketches, frame by frame
And then yea- draw every individual frame (with the tablet of course)
I just make sure that whenever I do the final lineart for a frame, I can see the previous frame's lineart as well as the current frame's sketch. it helps

I like it good job! But I think you could have added more into the movements to make them stronger. When she hops into the spin it kinda feels like she is floating upwards instead of pushing herself into it but I really like the posing for the end when she actually throwing the wing.

Shtut In reply to ColletteRen [2012-07-20 21:46:11 +0000 UTC]
Well I was trying to make it look like she was floating (in an air-bender kinda way?)
But yea, the timing is kinda off so it doesn't look as good as I hopes..
I might work on it more once I figure out how to fix it exactly
Thanks! ^^

No problem and if your trying to make her more floaty as an air bender maybe add more emphasis to the start of it? Only option I have is to watch the animations from the show in chunks to see what they did.
Woo for taking half an animation course xD

And this is why I'm pursuing an animation course. This short animation is reaaaaaaally awesome. Did you do this in PS or another software?

Yeah, too bad they don't teach me any juicy stuff here.
I'm better off self-learning. Hmm, doing it on Photoshop...I MUZ TRY IT! 8D

Your animation has gotten a lot clearer already! I just feel like the jumping part seems a little slow.
I stumbled across two names I liked, they are Indian based. Aahna, which means exist, and Madura, which means a bird. I kind of feel like Indian names fit really well with the nomads, maybe try that culture if you still want to name her.

Shtut In reply to Zehabix [2012-07-20 17:50:18 +0000 UTC]
Well I wanted to get a "floating" feeling right before the blast (Airbenders are like that..)
But I think I threw off the timing a bit.
I might fix it later if I ever figure out how..
Madura is a definite no, but I like Aahna..!
Guh... naming is hard..!!
Thank you for all the help though! I really appreciate it ^^

Oh! That makes since. I just felt like it was in slow motion, but now I understand.
I think Madura grew on me because of Merida from Brave, LoL. I like Aahna a lot.
You're welcome!

*is watching you*
*muhahaha*
Umm.. thank you..! ^^
I just kinda doodled it in PhotoShop (well, the sketch version anyways..), and then animated it frame by frame.
I'm sure you can do it too..!!
(And I bet it'd look amazing!)

hmmm may I ask how exactly you did it??
I mean I tried to make something in cs3, but everytime I try to make a new frame it just edits ALL of them and I don't know what to do..grr D:
but this is so amazing anyway! like really and really impressive *_*

Shtut In reply to viria13 [2012-07-23 09:10:54 +0000 UTC]
Oh yea the resetting frames is a pain..
I'll try to be a bit more helpful-
1. Start with 1 layer and 1 frame
2. Once you're done with the drawing, make a new frame-this will copy the previous frame.
3. Now,every time you make a new layer, it will appear all ALL the frames.. (sucks)
So to get around that, I just select all the previous frames first,
then open the new layer, and hide it.
This way the new layer only appears on the new frame.
4. Then just draw the next frame on your brand new layer
(and a helpful tip- you can set the previous frame's layer to 50% while you draw the new one. that way you can see what you already did and you get a better flow..~)
Hope this helps..!
