Deep sea creatures. Now that shit is fucked up.
This drawing isn't half as creepy as what actually exists down there, haha. I've always been fascinated and entirely creeped out by the deep sea. Translucent, slimy and enormous-eyed monstrosities in a vast pit of total darkness. I'm sure they're just misunderstood.
I've been trying to do more rough sketching, without any intention of making something significant. Going back to pencil. I find that i do a lot of my "sketching" in my head, and when it comes to putting an idea down, it only involves two or three extremely basic and tiny sketches before I start "the real thing". I admire artists who have a much more drawn-out process, so to speak, where they end up with books filled with little sketches and half-finished visual stories to look back over. It's good for productivity and creativity. Perhaps ignore the fact that I turned this sketch into a final work, lol. The intention was/is there.
Aesthetically, I liked the idea of portraying this as a half-living fossil that just didn't make sense. On paper, within the paper, behind glass, in its natural habitat, a memory in a dream... all this rolled into one. A curiosity from a museum you'll never find again.
A (slightly late) happy Halloween!
~Simon

Have i ever told you how madly incredible you are? Well, you really are. I can hardly find words to describe your art.. Your art! It just comes as a fact of creativity / of charm / of mastery / of beauty (whatever you prefer).
..so once you see it you can be sure that some of the best things in life still exist. It just has such an effect on me.
Anyway, very unsuspected conclusion: i adore it β₯

I've always been fascinated with what magnificent creatures live within the vast depths of the ocean, untouched by mankind. However, I'm almost frightened to find out.
Excellent work! I'd love to see more like this piece from you, you clearly have brilliant imagination.

My pleasure! I wish I was able to get things such as this piece out on paper.
I have the ideas all planned out in my mind, but the connection of pencil to paper massacres everything... Any tips for handling a problem like that?

This is a very interesting idea and implementation. I like the curvy thin lines, delicate and creepy

Haha, not too sure about that... I imagine it tasting like actual garbage, where the garbage consists mostly of eel. But hey, maybe a taste to acquire. Cheers man
